Only on loadout weapons. I got two seprate headshots today with torquebow aiming at the torso and they grabed common ammo and blam. It was a nice surpise but random. Walk over a weapon and get whats left automaticaly would be more fluent.

I disagree with this. I prefer to actually have to take a risk to get the ammo.

Good idea. I'm tired of picking up a Gnasher when I want Sawed off ammo right next to it.

Gears is always about risk. I've died many times picking up ammo and I love it. I deserved it because I didn't make sure it was safe. I've got many kills because of it too.
Now SiMBiiOTE (http://forums.epicgames.com/members/1477019-SiMBiiOTE) did bring up a valid point (my god hell is freezing over). It indeed is annoying to pick up another gun when ammo for the gun you're holding is right there.
They should incorporate priority with ammo/weapon pickups. If I have my SO out - and there's a SO on the ground with a Gnasher there. I should pick up the SO.
However have power weapons take priority over that still. So if there's a Boom and the ground beside the SO (me having the SO) - Boomshot gets priority.
So:
Weapon out + Same weapon ammo = Priority over other starter guns laying around
Weapon out + Power Weapon + Same weapon ammo = Priority on the power weapon

I somewhat agree with this. I like the added risk of getting ammo, but it's damn annoying trying to get what you want when a pile of weapons are lying together.

I likey... but it needs one higher level of priority.
DBNO Teammate = priority over any ammo lying around

I like this idea!!! It is definately annoying when you are trying to pick up a specific ammo and you pick up another weapon!!

Absolutely not. There's no reason whatsoever to change this game mechanic that has been the same for three games now. No compelling reason whatsoever.

LOL @ RISK You guys make it seem like Gears of War is Realistic. This what makes the game bad and boring sometimes. The best way to pick up Weapons was in GEARS 1 hands down.

There was a game that had cluttered ammo and weapon pickups and you would select through them all without risking movement
Damn someone must know which game im talking about

Offtopic speaking of ammo HOW WILL WE KNOW HOW MUCH AMMO WE HAVE without the DPAD? Asu know we roadie run and can flick th dpad and see exactly how much ammo for each weapon slot we have, we wont be able to do that anymore, we really need a classic control scheme

Fallout maybe?
No not fallout its killing me now lol maybe borderlands? UGH!
My idea for gears woulD be to hold x and select with dpad to pickup ammo, power weapon or something else
EXAMPLE you have your lancer and gnasher loadout with lancer equipped, you want boomshot but there is a lancer and a sawed off really close by, holding x would select all the weapons in a small popup window (like beast tiers instead of locusts its weapons) and you select with dpad and release x to pick whatu want, dpad wouldnt effect your weapons only the one u have equipped (lancer)

Doesn't it show in the top right of the screen as well, where the reload bar is.Yes thats true but if we roadie run in gears 3 with shotty equipped we can hold left on dpad to view exactly how many nades rifle ammo and especially pistol ammo we have left, important bcuz u dont wanna meatshield with hardly any pistol ammo, its a nice feature to see all our ammo

Oh, I see. Well, I'm sure they'll sort it out.
My idea was to double tap Y for pistol instead of holding Y, so many ppl still pickup ammo instead of reviving and how many of these ppl are gonna switch to pistol on accident lol

So, exactly the same then?

I disagree as well. Using your ammo intelligent and being careful when picking up ammo affords more oversight than picking it up just by walking.

I have to say i like it the way it is. Do like the priority system idea especially with Downed mates being first choice.
I dont understand the D-pad issue with ammo. I know how much ammo i have at the start i know how much ammo i have used when playing so i dont need to look to see if i have a nade or smoke i will automatically know that especially if i havent picked one up. I will also say if your that low on ammo all around a meatshield may be the best thing for you. It protects you allowing you to backtrack if needed and if they apporoach you the pistol melee does very well.

On Thrashball when display cube is on last string .. to pick or not to pick Torque ammo .. I love the risk.

Well, for ammo pickups, they could maybe... get rid of the circle that fills up around the button icon to make it a little faster? Just a suggestion.
I agree. They could make it 50% faster. That would be almost like auto pick up.
