View Full Version : Vote to skip

Please, for the love of god, have a vote to skip option in Quick Match. I'm not asking for a whole map choice deal like in ranked. I just want a vote to skip option. Anyone agree?

Edit: It would be a high majority vote. Meaning if there were ten people in the room it would take at least seven votes to be skipped. Also, you would only be able to vote every other map. Which means if you skip Bulletmarsh and end up on Sandbar, you're playing Sandbar. I'm not proposing an infinite skip.

Disagree because of trolls continuously saying no and only a small portion of the maps would be played which decreases replay value of the game.

i hope Epic merge Quick and Ranked, to allow the choice to vote on a choice of 3 maps as the next round is beginning. The CoD series seems to manage this well. I don't agree with splitting up play lists as i have found a lot more bots in quick match now, and i have to play quick match as i can't find a game in ranked.

Hopefully we might see one merged listing in Judgment as it seems to be more experimental a game with the information released so far.

This is an interesting idea...show it some extra love (http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/914728-Gears-of-War-Judgement-Matchmaking-Playlist-amp-Gamemode-Discussion) if you dare (Solution 2). :p

I wonder how many people love overpass, bulletmarsh, Rustlung? Quite a few actually. I know several people who actually like those maps. Not to mention people change their minds about some maps after a while. I used to really hate Rustlung but now I would gladly take that map over Sandbar, Bulletmarsh, and Overpass.

I'm not against the idea by the way, but I do think it would limit map variety as everybody else is saying. I remember Gears 1 was all about dat Gridlock.

Yeah, that makes more sense. Much like the random tie in Ranked - you don't have a subsequent choice.

It was all about Gridlock because that was the match that was being hosted by someone. There was no voting or element of choice, aside from the person who decided to host a game. All you could do was search for a match and then pick the map you fancied or the lobby with the most people in.

Exactly. I was just trying to point out that favoured maps tend to be favoured among the whole population. I appreciate that was a hosted thing, whereas this isn't. :)

While it may seem like everyone hates *insert map here* that isn't true. That's why with the high majority vote and the ability to only vote on every other map, all of the maps would be played at least once in a while.

Disagree. Everyone would just skip certain maps meaning there would be no point in playing them to get better.

Wouldn't like this for Quick Match, I'd much prefer an alphabetical rotation where you can see what map is next and leave if necessary. Your proposal would overall slow the process down (the voting timer would have to be around 10 seconds, which added on to the 30 seconds to get off a map, 10 seconds inbetween, then 20 seconds loading the new map, would be quite painful :()

We should at least be able to vote what map to play on next in quick match.

I'd play Rustlung any day over Bulletmarsh and Overpass.

I support, it gives the developers a better idea on which maps the majority of players prefer. As it stands now they put the maps there and either a player leaves, or stays just to play. It doesnt give the developers an accurate sense of whether the fans like or dislike the map. This would allow them when creating DLC content to review there stats on maps to see which ones they should implement or which maps should be tweaked or remade to better fit.

It depends on what gametype we're talking about. Those are all awful in TDM. Bullet Marsh is ok for Guardian and Execution, Rustlung is pretty good for Guardian and awesome for KOTH. Overpass is terrible all around, but some people still like it.

One another note, Escalation should never have been brought back. It's tolerable in Execution, but otherwise it's pretty awful.

Yup. Plus some groups will just say "no" to maps they aren't as good on. Boring. I wanna play them all. I hate when a great map comes up and people veto it. Kills me. I like all of the maps. Paid for them, I wanna play them.

Paid for them, I wanna play them. But if you can only vote every other map you're going to end up playing on them all anyway. If you skip Bulletmarsh and end up on Rustlung you're playing on Rustlung or vice versa and so on and so forth. You must play on whatever map comes up after the vote. Not to mention you would need a high majority vote so if there are a few people who like *Blank* it wont get voted. As for it taking longer, not by much. The voting could take place during the twenty seconds that we're just sitting there anyway. Once a map is voted it'll take about 10-15 seconds to get a new map. It usually takes at least 20-30 seconds for my friends and I to back out regroup and find a new match (and then the map needs to load or we're waiting for bots to die).

But I like Bullet Marsh. My friends don't. So they would screw me and veto it. Dam them. LOL. I would however like the ability to back out of a game with my friends staying in my lobby. I hate that we always have to send invites. The COD way is much better. Just back out as party leader and everyone follows or leave and assign someone else the party leader tag.

I think it would be a good idea. Maps that are poorly designed/that have flow issues/that people don't like will see less action, meaning that people aren't stuck with maps that aren't enjoyable and have more time to play on the 'better' maps. Also, having such a system in QM would allow Epic to track which maps are more popular among the QM playerbase (that larger Versus playerbase, I might add) and allow them to analyse the popular and unpopular maps for reasons why they are so.

You really don't understand how 'vote to skip' systems work, do you? Majority of players vote to skip, the game changes maps once. No more voting to skip and player's don't choose which map to change to. Say, you got Sandbar, but nobody wants to play it. So you all vote, and get Checkout. The game chose Checkout for you, and you're all forced to play Checkout without a second option to skip.

Nice. Beer stays cold just by putting in the snow bank. I love that. Alot of my family lives in Winnipeg.

Seems like everyone wants to skip the good maps. Sandbar skip ? What? Crazy talk.

I want to see Quick Match and Ranked merged somehow because both types of playlists are unsatisfactory experience (either all bots, some casual players and some bots, or I can play Ranked and either destroy people AS a team or be destroyed by a team, all after waiting half an hour for a match or not finding one for something like Zeta) but if that dream doesn't get accomplished then my answer is yes.
