Everyone on the forums obviously know that Gears of War 3 multiplayer has a low number of players, well I have some ideas and if you do as well, lets try and see if we can bring these numbers back up.

Lets start at the basics of MP: Ranked, Public, Quick and Private Matches.

Ranked Matches should be and only be the only gametype where you can rank/level-up. I know most people enjoy playing Quick Match and don't want to be penalize by ridiculous happenings, but that would bring more people to Ranked Matches.

Ranked Matches and Quick Match will work the way it works now and both should use dedicated servers.

Now for Public Matches, brings back the way we found matches in Gears 1. It lets you know what you're joining and the connection type, this will work like Gears 1 as in it wont be server based, but you are getting into exactly what you want to.

Also in Public Matches you can customize everything about the game when it comes to play-style like, what your loadout options are (ex: You can have any weapon as a starting weapon), what are the weapon swaps, map-cycle, how long the matches are, stopping power (on or off), classic stalemate (on or off) and many other options I cant think of right now.

Private Matches work just like Public Matches, but of course is private.

Bad idea. I'd say Ranked should have 200% of the XP that Quick Match offers however. Or, if Ranked was the only way to rank up, then bring back Player Matches like GoW1.

Connection indicators are always inaccurate, as far as I know. So I wouldn't really see the point of adding them. I don't see what else could be shown, unless it was a Player Match with custom weapon swaps and friendly fire on.

So you are talking about Player Matches. If you're going to replace Quick Match with Player Match, then I support having the ability to rank up exclusive to Ranked Match. When you find a match, it should also clearly show weapon swaps, friendly fire, gamemode etc. in a dialogue box when you join the match (and are waiting to spawn in). Good idea on customising loadouts too.


Private Matches work just like Public Matches, but of course is private.

So the same thing then? Except you can now swap weapon loadouts and choose map cycles?
