I'm on a week break from Gears, and I have to say that it will really help your performance.
I have done this many times in the past. I normally play normally for 2-3 weeks, then my gameplay becomes spotty. I start missing shots, not reacting fast enough and overall not being as alert as I would be during games. I mainly start to blame connection at that point, and I keep playing despite my growing frustration. This will only make me do worse. This continues on for about 1 more week, adding up to a month of gameplay, 2-3 weeks of being good/decent and 1 week of major frustration and rage.
I then eject the disc and play another game.
I find that I start enjoying that game a lot more than Gears. I've been playing Halo: Reach relentlessly the past week and I've been having tons of fun; why can't I have this fun in Gears all of the time?
Well, you just gotta change stuff up sometimes. Gears does become repetitive and boring, so you're less likely to enjoy the game itself. I recommend taking a break for another game. I guarantee that you will have a more enjoyable time playing Gears in the future, as this is the case for me. Trust me, it really works. Don't hate the game. Don't hate the other players. Don't hate anything about Gears, as it is probably your fault that you are beginning to lose games and it is probably your fault you are getting killed more often.
