so lately i have often been in gnasher/sos duels with someone and we kill each other , but i shoot him first and a moment later he pops a kill on me aswell , i clearly see/hear my shot killing him first , how the hell he can kill me if hes dead... , or does the game realy lag so much ?

It's because of Client Side Hit Detection.

On your screen, you shoot first.
On his screen, he shot first.

The person with the better connection will get the kill first, then he'll get updated, and die either instantenously or a few seconds later, depending on connection.

Also known as Kill Trading.

Maaaaaz beat me to it. :(

It's due to on your screen, you fire first, but on his, he fired first.
It has to do with connection. :)

Not as bad as halo 3 lol but yeah it gets old. I don't mind when it's at the same time, but I hate when I shoot him and about 1 full second later I die.

One of the many reasons why you shouldn't use your shotgun often.

I can tell what type of day I'm going to have by the frequency of trades early in a session.

Some days, I rarely get any. Other days it's constant. To the point where I'll gib someone, see the +175 on my screen and make a move, then suddenly blow up myself and see the trade graphic on my screen.

How could the other person have possibly seen themselves shoot first in that scenario? How freakin' far behind me are they?

Makes absolutely no sense, and sounds more like artificial lag compensation to me.

as much as i hate client side hit detection everytime i trade im always last to get the kill , but on my screen i shoot seconds before they did everytime

I get that a lot. Most of the time it's my gun going off first and sometimes it's a long time before theirs seems to shoot. I hate it. Gears being Gears.

Perfect description of it.

It removed connections as a factor in who lives and who dies. Now both people die if they should.

What? It didn't remove connections from the equation at all. It does the exact opposite. It happens because of connection.
