Should I get into ranked?

I have been a quick match player but a ranked player back in Gears 2. Guardian in Gears 2 was very fun for me and so was warzone. The only times I played ranked in Gears 3 was TDM and somehow I got ranked D/C's but I never remember quitting any matches.

I am a quick match warzone player but another issue I have is that I know I would not be able to play this matchtype on ranked because execution is more popular. I notice quick match leaderboards don't get taken seriously although I love the map cycling and when I did ranked in Gears 2 it was always the same maps.

Another thing I face is that I have been lone wolfing it because I can't really seem to get a stable list of friends that stay consistent on the same matchtype.


Any suggestions on if I should do ranked or not? If so what matchtype would be recommended. I would like to get a good leaderboard card on one matchtype.

I'd just do Quick Match. It's a lot quicker, and people can replace bots.

Too many full teams who take ranked too seriously. When I play public matches, I do quick.

i played quick alot in the beginning because im typically a lone wolf myself......however i wanted to see the difference in competition level......so ive been playing more ranked TDM and King......you will run into better players for sure.....occasionally full teams of rifle rape......but overall the connection is better...hit detection seems better......and that to me is worth it.....but ive gotten better playing ranked....i still do quick but i prefer ranked now.

I would like to see more quick match players go, the competition is no where to be found in quick match, and the ranked match numbers are way low now. Everyone seems to not want to play ranked and just goes into quick match, Petenub said "BTTE Execution numbers are looking great. Alpha, shape up or you're shipping out" as a competitive player I would not like to see that go.

Since when is ranked considered competitive Gears 3 lol. I personally think quick match blows but that's just me. I'd rather play ranked so you don't just play idiots and you don't always have bots on your team.

use the buddy system in ranked. i never play ranked unless i have a team to party up with. and i play QM all other times

I play Ranked by myself every day. I'm new to Gears online multiplayer and I got very bored of Quick Match by December. Since then I exclusively play Ranked and am a better player because of it. I know some people say this isn't true, but the best players in the game play Ranked. Quick Match is a bot fest and there is no competition at all.

Play QM when you are solo or with one other friend. If you have a full team play ranked, people tend to think they're "beasts" at the game when they run a full team and kill the 1 or 2 good players on the opposite team. Ranked nets you more XP too, worthy of noting. In the end, play whatever the hell you like. If you want to get in to competitive, grab a few people off your friends list and look for a few scrims, find out what settings you wanna play on and play against people of similar level of skill to begin with.

Exactly. I don't mind being beaten in Ranked against a team of 5, it's good practice. I don't like being humped though so I can understand why a lot of people would rather stay away from the parties and play QM.

QM is super boring. I always play Ranked, whether I'm alone or with a full team.

It will help you get better at the game imo.

I play QM because I am 9 times out of 10 running solo, and I feel that there are a lot of bugs in this game right now that need fixing.

I started playing QM but yeah as many other people said I like the challenge in playing ranked. Being challenged by players who are better than you can make you a better player.

I still play both types QM and ranked but everytime I want to get challenged I play ranked :)

Here is an advice I can give you:
Stay away from ranked TDM EVERY single map no matter which it was both team are lancer camping. I don't know why. Even on checkout one team was "tactically sitting" in the checkout and the other in the electronics... I hate it so much.... in ranked TDM. That's why I only play QM TDM...

But ranked KOTH rocks!

No offense but you say that like it is a simple thing to do, take me for example I would love to get into competitive gears but I can't because most of my friends are just casual players and I can never meet anyone who is good and is not some cocky asshole who is just an ass to everyone.

So I tried searching ranked the other day.... I tried searching for CTL, could not get a room. I tried ranked TDM, instant players. I honestly did not feel much of a difference in playstyles. All the differences seemed to be bad. Basically, people were quitting before matches would even begin and bots were being farmed. TDM seemed normal with people closing in on the spawn points as best as possible. I honestly did not feel all that challenged and I can see why quick match is constantly played. I couldn't even play my favorite matchtype(warzone) because it's bundled in the execution playlist and I know everyone will vote execution as well. Only major differences seemed to be more trash talk and lack of join in session which just lead to teams farming the bots from the quitters as much as possible.
