The scorcher is super-powerful now, it's the go-to weapon at the moment. Epic appear to have experimented with reducing the retro-lancer's stopping power for a while, but it's back as strong as ever - nearly every body uses it, noobs, newbies and vets alike.

I loved Raven Down in GOW1 but don't think it'll be that great for GOW3

The retro is near enough an insta-down even in the hands of a real player not just bots. It's much more effective than the gnasher at close range, the only gun capable of countering it is the scorcher.
