Does anyone know if Epic doing anything about those retards using the modded hammerburst? I mean when you enter a ranked match against a team of 5 all using a modded hammerbust its all I can do not to smash everything I own. I just want it to stop! MAKE IT STOP!!

Funny (or not) thing I remember was a few months back some "Pro" gamer posted a video here of his team taking the top on Overpass and the guy was shooting lasers out of his Hammerburst. Believe me, I have a fast trigger finger and have gotten tons of hate mail for using the Hammerburst, but this was insane and sad that a "Pro" uses a modded controller.

Most people who die by the hammerburst now think it's because of mods. I get accused of using a modded controller and dont have one as I am sure many other people who use the hammerburst constantly/effectivly do.

Whats sad is you automatically assume anyone with an insanely fast trigger finger uses a mod. And I doubt it was a pro player you were watching using the Hammerburst, as they aren't allowed for competitive play unless it was Arctyc, and he doesn't use a mod at all.



Bottomline the problem lies in the hammerburst itself being so damn strong. But the easiest solution would be to keep the stopping power off of it seeing as its the strongest rifle in the game and doesn't need it, and add more recoil to the hammerburst.

It's not epic. There is nothing that can be done. There is no way to detect them.

If it was a scrim it would have been lancer/gnasher.
I've seen about 2-3 pros use a hammy in public but haven't seen one with a mod.

kidding aside how do you know they were using mods?? I have yet to run into someone who I really thought had a modded controller using the HB in gears 3. I'd imagine it'd have to look like lazers coming out of the gun? Otherwise it's not that hard to nail someone down with a fast trigger finger and the HB. Takes skill mang, and believe it or not, some people have'm. ;)

But I don't think that everyone who uses the Hammerburst has a modded controller. Still, the fact that the gun rips through people across the map so easily is the reason why I think it's overpowered. Perfectly balanced in Gears 2 and did not need to be buffed after launch for Gears 3.

i saw a letter written by a player who had a mod and he said they fire without stopping and are no good as you need to be able to control what you are doing ime not so sure they are as good as everyone thinks

not to turn this into a balance thread, but each of the guns have their respective 'ranges' for being able to tear through people.

Retro long range - 1 maybe, most likely 0
HB long range - 1 for sure
Lancer - 1 potentially,

Retro medium range - 1-2
Lancer medium range - 1-2
HB medium range - 1

Retro Close - 1-3
Lancer Close 1-2, maybe 3 if full active
HB Close 1

So to me it's not imbalanced especially with multiple enemies around, and to be honest half the time you use it your kills are stolen because it's a bit more difficult with the clip size to finish someone off, you usually need to reload unless you nailed the majority of your shots. Also the active is a lot harder to grab than the lancer. It's on par with the retro but the retro really doesn't even need an active soooooo

That's pretty sh1tty gamestop sells turbo controllers for super cheap, i didn't know that. =\ Best advice is to just leave the match and find another one if your certain someones using a modded controller. No sense in playing with cheaters. That's my take on these types of situations. If it was a HUGE problem then Epic should've or probably would've coded in a limiter, but they didn't - so just move on and avoid IMO.

The gears 2 hammerburst did more damage and had a headshot modifier. The major benefit for the current one is damage retention and low recoil., but the gears 2 recoil was negligible at best. From a power output perspective the gears 3 hammerburst is weaker and lost the headshot bonus.

Your right most people are complainers that do not like to die. However if you do get hit with a modded hammerburst you know it. Fast trigger finger will have some aim issues where the mods will have a straight line laser and never miss.

If I were a pro, i think I'd just mostly stick with using equipment that's legal to use on the circuits. I dont think i could play well using a programmable controller on my own time then have to use a standard microsoft controller for tournaments.

I have tons and tons of matches on QM KotH and maybe only twice have I seen a modded hammerburst. In previous threads like these I thought that it was probably more common that people were getting killed by good hammerburst users and excusing themselves for dying by claiming it was a mod.

That is, until I started playing ranked TDM with a few guys somewhat regularly. There are tons of guys using modded controllers in Ranked TDM for sure. The problem is really accentuated on maps like Academy and Anvil with longer shooting ranges.

As Did I. I'm not saying it wasn't there, the version definitely hasless (I don't understand why it was changed) but the recoil, to me atleast, was never was a substantial amount. I actually felt the gears 2 hammerburst coud have used a touch more.

Regardless I felt the gears 2 hammerburst was a lot better.

There is a limit to how fast a hammerburst can shoot and it can easily be met with a finger.
