Haven't seen this go up yet, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling.

We have 5 new multiplayer maps released today. I haven't gotten the chance to play on all of them yet, but I want to get this discussion going. I'll be uploading some more commentaries on my youtube with each new map within the next week or so explaining my opinion on them, but what do you guys think so far for competitive play? Could we possibly see one of them in Hypefestation v3 (if they do another) or maybe even future MLG events if they pick the game up?

Arctyc slapped up walkthroughs and discussions on all of the maps yesterday.

Academy certainly looks like it might be competitive...Escalation definitely not...Depths not really sure it could be but I do not like where the weapons spawn...Have not played Anvil yet...The Slab could be...not too sure how it would play out.

I think academy is too big for 4 v 4.

Other 3 maps seem great so far.

Escalation is Escalation so, nothing more needs be said there.

Most of the maps are just to big.

Academy would work, but it's bordering that "to big" category. From the ranked games I played yesterday it was really slow when the first 2-3 kills went off, and I can only imagine how slow it would get when people start playing for money.

Depths is really cool, but you basically have 2 different maps playing out, with little to no interaction between the two. Hotel plays like two maps, but you constantly have to transition between the inside and the outside, so it works a lot better.

Escalation :\

Anvil I haven't played enough of, I see it working for competitive play but it feels like it might be to hard to navigate with all the different rooms, bridges and underpasses. I'd be interested in playing some scrims out on this map.

Slab is a great map. It has a good "cross" feel to it, so it would fit in great with other competitive maps. Everything focuses on getting the boom, so you'll always have action going on in KotH or execution.

These maps are great for ranked and casual play, they're really pretty and I've enjoyed playing all of them. But I'm concerned how well they would perform in competitive play because of their size and how that might effect the pace of the action. Great map pack though.

i think depths will be a great map in the competetive circuit. last night playing ranked koth i ran into nsansez nicmercs, getb falloutt and one more mlg pro (cant remember his name sorry) and that was the craziest match of the day. i could really see this one added. there was about 20 minutes of nonstop action. great match really, just a little salty because i lost. not going to lie it was my first time i played that map but it still was fun..

I think academy is too big.. even for KOTH.. I feel like there are way too many open areas and I feel like I would be wasting 20 seconds just trying to move around the map to get to the hill if i were to die.

Depths, might work for KOTH, since it has a nice amount of cover. TOO BIG for execution.

Slab, might work for execution.. would rather not see it though.. i would rather gridlock be added back before this map.

Anvil is a little big also, but definitely my favorite of the bunch..

See, KotH I could see working great, but execution would just not make a good fit in my opinion/

The hills that spawn in the open destroy that map for KotH. That, and you have to run forever to get to next hill.

koth for sure but hmm.. execution. this could be debatable, i think i will have to get some scrims on this map and see for myself but i could see some pretty sick last man out clutches with all the rooms and different areas you could use to your advantage.
