Hi there everyone!
Been lurking on the forums since release and I must say Iv'e seen some great things and some awful things come out of this community.
Thought I might share my thoughts and opinions about the overall state of Gears of War 3.
Note: This will be a long read, if you dont want to read it then please dont post.

1-Maps
I like most of the maps in Gears 3, there are a few I have a beef with like Overpass, but that doesnt stop me from enjoying those maps. There are a few maps that play very slowly in gametypes like Execution, (ie. Mercy) but once again for the most part the maps are enjoyable, balanced, and well designed.

2-Weapons and balancing
When Gears 3 was in beta the weapons were horribly unbalnced. The sawed off was a cannon, and the Retro was a hail of insta-death lead spray. Both these weapons have been nerfed, and the sawed-off and Retro are now almost balanced perfectly. The only thing I would suggest doing is making the retro charge more like the chainsaw, in which you either get the kill, or you do nothing. Nothing is more infuriating to me than having a guy charge me from 3 feet away, then either melee/spray me down in a half second. Other than that, I believe the Retro is well balanced.

The Hammerburst is almost perfect, I just think it could do with a slightly lowered RoF cap to counter those modded controller users. I recently discovered how to feather the trigger just right to get almost maximum rate of fire from the Hammy, but you can tell when someone is modding because the gun will be making a shooting sound for every 2 bullets coming out of the gun.

The Lancer seems almost perfect although I believe it could use either an active reload nerf or a reduced clip size. The 60+ rounds & active combo makes for one hell of a leadstorm.

The Gnasher is the Gnasher, and while 90% of the Gears community will disagree with me on this, I think that a slight nerf to the active reload would make it perfectly balanced. Nothings worse than hitting a guy with 3 shots only to have him one-shot-down you with one hit.

3-Thank you Epic
For the first time I have been able to truly fall in love with Gears, and no, I am no stranger to Gears 1 & 2, but the extreme lag is just something I COULD NOT deal with. especially in Gears, where that one precise shotgun blast is the difference between life and death, lag is an awful thing to have happen. With Gears 3, I very rarely have any lag, and I can enjoy the game to its fullest potential. Than you Epic, for making a game that is so different than the other shooters out there, and for doing it right.

PS: for all of you community members experiencing lag, I feel you. Keep pushing Epic to fix the worldwide servers. I fortunately live very close to the Epic headquarters and Atlanta, so Gears 3 is dreamlike.
