View Full Version : HELP! Crash left me unable to proceed

I beat the game once so far and I've continued on to start a second play-through since I have many more items and experience points to get.
My character was in a section that only had one possible option for progression through the castle. The other possible way was locked. I tried to move forward and I had to immediately fight a titan. As I defeated him the game crashed. I restarted the game and my character is still in the spot I was before I fought the titan (the courtyard w the statue), but there is no option to proceed. The circle I need to press to get out of there is gone.
I looked in the options for a way to just restart my current rebirth and the only options I see are:
Restart Rebirth 1
or
Reset Character
I don't want to lose my level/items/$/etc.... and I don't want to have to start over and fight weak enemies that drop barely any $.
I'm stuck. Can we please get a "Restart Current Rebirth" option? It's unclear if "restart rebirth 1" will give me the outcome I'm looking for.
Thanks for any help

restart rebirth 1 will indeed start you at really easy enemies. and reset character is kinda obvious. there is a restart last rebirth option but its only when you lose a battle against a non deathless. is your game backed up in ifunbox?

This has happened to like 10 people, either that spot in the courtyard or in the arena—no blue circle(s). The fix is to close the app, swap out your SAVE folder, start the game without your SAVE folder, turn off the app again, swap your SAVE folder back in, then turn the game back on and no more problem.
If you are unsure how to do then then refer to this thread: http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/872012-How-to-back-up-save-points-using-Mac-or-PC

this has happened to me, and I seem to be one of the lucky ones since all I need to do is to restart (close and stop running in background) the app and it works. so try that first, and if it doesn't work for you, Darths method will.

This may be a double post. It didn't seem to work the first time I tried.
Thanks for the replies.
I tried following all of your instructions with iFunBox. When I was at the part where I deleted my save folder from my phone and started IB2 again I noticed that I was still stuck at the same spot...as if my save wasn't deleted at all. But I completed the instructions anyway and nothing changed. I'm still stuck.
I see that because I have an iCloud account my SwordSave files are stored remotely instead of locally. The SAVE folder on my phone only has BackupSlotX_0.bin and BackupX_0-0.bin. Any attempt I've made to turn off the 'Documents and Data' part of iCloud results in the game starting completely over as if I've never played. When I turn "Documents and Data" back on in iCloud, I'm back at my stuck spot. I have no idea how to get my SwordSave files from iCloud onto my phone so that I can retry your instuructions. I'm afraid that if I delete my iCloud account that I will lose my saves entirely.
I really appreciate the advice and any more that you have for for me.
Developers: This is a completely game-breaking bug. I know that beta testing won't catch every possible issue like this....but wouldn't it be a good idea to include an option to restart the current rebirth from the options screen for any one of a hundred reasons? So that, at the most, players would only lose the 20 minutes or so they've been playing that rebirth? I have spent hours and hours trying to get my character unstuck at this point. This whole situation and the time I've spent trying to fix it is upsetting.

Don't delete your iCloud account. Allegedly you can just disable iCloud in settings. You know that iCloud is causing your problems since you deleted the SAVE folder from inside iFunBox yet the game didn't start you at the beginning.
Once you get the game working without iCloud, then you can start trying to figure out exactly how and why iCloud was giving you trouble. But since I don't even have an iCloud account, any speculation on my part about that would probably be dangerous and counterproductive. But I do know that if you don't need to sync more than one iDevice then you don't need the iCloud service.
You could always turn it on temporarily if you need it for something, but it's unclear how that might adversely affect your game. If using something like Pages and you want to send a document, there are other cloud services like DropBox that work well. Please just remember to back up your game before tinkering with iCloud if you get adventurous with it.

From what I can gather, the section where you can turn off certain apps in iCloud can only be used/viewed if you back up your entire phone on the cloud. I have documents and data and contacts upload to the cloud but not my entire phone backup. I use my computer for that. So the section where I might be able to turn off that app doesnt even show up. I can turn off the documents and data part of iCloud but, for some reason, it doesn't give me the option to pull the data to my phone as I turn it off. As of now I can see absolutely no way to get my save games from iCloud onto my phone without completely starting the game over.
At this point I just want to stop using iCloud entirely. I may just delete my iCloud account and see if I can bring myself to grind through IB2 to get to the point where I am now. I honestly want my $5.99 and all the hours of my life back.
