Level 604 seems to be the cap

In the middle of NG^27, my character level was suddenly taken down from 604 to 123, and my overall base stats was reduced by about 960 (2x480). Not sure if it's another NG bug, or just another way ChAIR try to coerce one to buy IAP as the game just got a lot more challenging facing level 1300 titans.

I don't mind more challenge, but taking my hard-earned stats away is just not cool. Hear that ChAIR?

did the titans drop in level too? did your rebirth or NG # go down? NG^27 must be impossible at LVL 123... hope you have your game saved, sorry to hear re the stat loss.

wb gilly! And the money cap is just like the 604 NG cap and not very friendly at all. If you reach it, it will bounce you down to a much lower number. And since hackers are safe with their 100010 GKs and their level 100 million, I think these caps only apply if and when you cross these thresholds legitimately.

I am certain it's at 95 million even because I tested it over ten times in different places and circumstances (backing up each time of course). If I would go past 95 million, nothing bad would happen, but if I went to the next zone or if I logged off the game, it would cut me down to 50 million and let me keep the change.

That's what exactly happened to me after killing GK 4,050 back in December 28th; I was on level 603 back then. It happened when I was supposed to go from 604 to 605 level; I thought it was my fault cuz I've got that % remaining battery ... the power cable was hooked to my 4S but I forgot to plug the other end in the computer, duh! then my phone, as you know, suddenly died and when it came to it, I've got the surprise and thought, F...k! the game crashed big time!! :)

My stats were reduced and I was sent back to level 123. If you look at my gameboard level rank I am stuck at 604 (I'm still catching up, currently on level 514).
Lucky me my attack was so high that it did not bother me much. My level and stats went down but the Titans were now stronger, before you ask the Titan's level were not reduced, but with my reduced stats it got more interesting or challenging like Ruggedland said. Imagine killing a higher GK with reduced stats? well, it's tougher but not impossible. I would have been really mad if my GK level was reset to something lower to what it really was though, but the level and stats were the only "damage" as all achievements and GK remained the same. If I had lost my GK level I would have just delete the bloody game from my phone altogether :mad:

It could be another bug; I'd rather think that it's a way to have only stronger NG+ players in higher levels; a way of saying "got skills? show me then with reduced stats!!" the game is cool and all but Epic's QA is just ludicrous and if this is a way to force people to do in-app-purchase? then fuggedaboutit!! that's something I just don't do! never did, never will. Period.

My base stats prior to the reset was roughly this: health 49K, attack: 3k, shield: 130, magic: 140. The Titan stats remains the same after reset.

Edit: The Titan speed is faster at level 1330 than level 130 (maybe twice as fast), but the speed kind of reachs a plateau at this level. Their health and attacks go up sequentially though with each level.

And no, the money bag never seem to exceed $120 (more like $30 each), and the items are the same price as in OG. The prics for keys go up sequentially with each NG. Price for keys in NG^27, small: $136k, medium: $277k, large: $1435k. The reward for keys increases sequentially as well. One can't afford anything in NG from money drop or mags. The only way to get meaningful money in NG is getting the small keys from occasional chests and one large key after defeating Goliath. A large key with 20% gold gem can get you 1.9M gold in NG27.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those 'balance tweeks' that ChAIR put in the updates. So be it, I'll just have to stay in current NG a little longer and master a few more items.

If you have a higher amount you have the luxury to store gems anywhere, shift them around in your armor sets when you get an upgrade, and even frequently do some more expensive shifts like with square gems.

Also, at a certain point, all gems results from chests are a money loss. If you want to hunt gems, it's going to lower your dollar amount. While there's nothing by-itself that you can't afford with only 50m, overall it's very easy to burn through your money, and if your dollar amount is higher up, you don't have to worry about whether your savings are going south or not.

Well, I reached level 604 back in December 28th so it's been a while and once it happened I was leveling even faster, like 2 to 4 levels after each victory, probably another bug! but I'm actually slowing down on NG^65 cuz I want to master a few more items before killing another GK ... and I'm testing something ... I think I figured out what elemental gem I will need to have by the time I face GK ... usually I go for GK fight without having most of the elemental gems for protection and cross my fingers to have the one I will need, i.e, sometimes I don't and my magic is not high at all; as a matter of fact I don't use magic like most of other players just to refill my health when it's low, but to stop GK's sequence that I know he will hit me hard even with full health, or when I make a mistake. Anyway, for the past 2 GK's I did not have the one I would need and that was on purpose as I had the opportunity to get it then again I didn't ... last time I did buy it following my testing case and it was exactly the one that was needed for fighting him ... once I confirm next time around I'll post here ....
by the way, as far as getting time to play, in NG+ you level faster as well as battle stronger Titans at the same time due to your leveling ... nothing that some XP+ gems would not help you either :-)

I don't know if you've seen in another thread that it's been found out, the 'bosses' which consist of Anarchist, Stone Demon, MX-Goliath, Thane v1 & v2 and GK all have the same elemental attack per play through. I don't want to confuse people with RB's, but it doesn't matter which RB you're on, all the above bosses have the same elemental damage. This only changes once you have defeated the GK and it releases a 'new set' of bosses.

If you are aware of that and you mean something else, do you mean you can work out which elemental damage will be next without checking and earlier boss to find out? I always thought the elemental damage was random but it COULD go in some sort of order and never deviates from that?

And the same as the other bosses you will fight before reaching GK, it is especially helpful when about to face the Stone Demon as you can't see his tab before the fight.

Yeah you should definitely get a back up close to the level because that will be crazy if you get reset again. Could be a testiment to your gameplay of how many times you can reach the cap? I'm just really looking forward to the next IB2 update, hopefully straighten out a lot of the mentioned bugs and to have some new equipment (hopefully not low - middle class sort of gear) and of course Clash Mobs!

I just reached level 604 again and the bug sent me all back to level 123 with reduced stats ... so I'm confirming the bug I experienced last December 28th.
Any ETA on the bug fix? I won't be able to play anymore ... had to restore my backup from level 600 and just go play Real Racing 2 from now on :-)

There's only one way, he HACKED the leaderboard!!! how did he manage to go from 1,550 to 9,150? magic? I have the screen shots to prove it.
As far as know L E A N D R O was at 7,050 and we could see the progress in the board whereas "Voice of Freedom" was way down below; having said that I'm really questioning his previous IB1 GK level record. Other hackers just put a gazillion number in there, Voice, in the other hand picked a more plausible number ... shame on you "Voice of Freedom"!! shame!

rugged - I hacked the crap out of my game, obviously. lol my holiday, lots of time to play (and get heaps tan and fit!) and out of range of da intraweb. NG of course, in OG it's tough grinding to 5k let alone 10k which is where I'm heading in NG!

Sometimes I feel GK is faster really high up but when I really sit back and try to eliminate bias (the expectation due to being higher level that he is faster) I think it is always about the same speed.

holy crap! It didn't happen one way or the other (level normal or hit cap and go to lvl 123), SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENED!

It leveled up to 604, then inexplicably levelled up AGAIN (it should not have, judging by the fight it should only level up once) to 603. Then levelled up AGAIN to 604.

Quite clearly a bug, and again at this number of 604. Not the same harsh effect as for others, and it may let me move forward, but something that was not right happened. I will try my save at 603 and try a few more things like maybe levelling up with money, different versions, trying for lvl 605 etc.

I guess I better backup this save too in case I can't move past again lol. Will report soon.

Moved to 605 and am so thankful. Something weird did happen at 604 and I did "lose" half a level, although that's embarrassing to mention given other players lost heaps of level and points and such! Let the testing begin...

Yeah I am very thankful, but I will try and find some answers for everyone too. I am glad to confirm to devs though and Flak that something clearly is weird at level 604. I'm trying for 606 then will do quite a bit of testing, so GK10k must wait :) okay done, hit 606 I think I'm clear.

More on "my 604 bug". I won a prize wheel, used it and somehow my avatar was clearly showing behind the running prize wheel. That's random...

Also I avoided the negative bloodline bug which seems linked to the 604 bug. I'm generally pretty good at avoiding bugs and here I still "felt" the bug but of course nothing catastrophic like rugged and Leo. I wonder if this is because of my refusal to use iCloud...

I'm glad you got through it but we don't actually know what happened to Leandro, this bug was kept as a dark secret until Ruggedland said something, and even from the most recent description we don't know if Leandro's level went down. All he says in the Flaq thread is that it's unfair his stats were weakened and that he would rather it was his level (from what stat amount to what stat amount is still a secret). Does he have more or less than 272 stat points to spend? All said was that he took a stat hit that made the game unplayable Leandro also claimed to have known about "the negative bloodline thing" for weeks, but never said anything about it or what it entailed.

Anyway please keep filing us in on the details and we can probably assume that whatever happened to you is all that would happen to someone else. Between you and Rugged you should be able to pinpoint both the cause and effect of the problem. It's important that the developers know exactly what is causing what to happen because they can't help if they only hear vague complaints.

I also wonder about how intentional it is and if it's a balancing element. The money cap in OG seems like it could be intentional to make people spend their money (on elixirs etc) rather than hoard it.

I am done with testing and brainstorming; I have some conclusions which may or may not help players and devs:

- We have focused on level 604 but there is something related to level... spec points. A little over 4000 spec points is what you have at level 603. But I guess that depends largely on what items you have mastered. So I think spec points is irrelevant, that the bug must have to do with level 604 and we can rule out spec points. Otherwise we'd see people get problems at different levels (but same spec points).

- Something is foul with level 604 I can confirm. While I haven't had the catastrophic consequences as others, I did see bugs creep in once I hit 604. Thankfully not so serious, and I am able to move forward in level (which is much needed because GK is getting ridiculous as I head towards GK10k!). Besides what I mentioned in my previous posts, I seem to have lost “half a level” rather than the hundreds of levels others have. I’ll take that!

- I generally am bug-free compared to others, and I wonder if this has to do with my avoidance of iCloud. No doubt this stopped me from ever suffering from the save game bug. Has this maybe also toned down (or eliminated, maybe my small bugs at 604 are coincidence, I can't rule that out, funny as it sounds) my issue at level 604?

It is interesting to see if others approaching or have saves at 604 have big issues like rugged and Leo, small bugs like me, or none at all as some of our colleagues on GC seem to show. There is no doubt that the bulk of high level results on GC is hacked (and I don't know if hacking actually wipes out these "caps"), but can every one be?

I wonder if game version, iCloud, or iDevice software, hardware or jailbreak status has anything to do with this?

Anyway, I hope there are some helpful ideas and feedback. It's up to the devs now, I'm off to have the final tough GK matches up to GK10k, it really is tough now. I must admit I am using the potions... Thinking of spending some time levelling up after I beat GK10k!

I noticed that too... Why keep this secret for so long, only mentioning something when someone else has the problem? I would shout from the rooftops, well maybe a bit more subtle as I love the game and appreciate the devs' work :) I did say maybe jailbreak, iDevice, game version, firmware etc has an effect here, but there was something I didn't mention. I'll keep a look out on my own saves and see what others experience at level 604 before being overly suspicious though. It will be interesting if we all pitch in and can get to the bottom of this though!



addition re hacked GC: There are far more people in GC above level 604, than those with crazy high hacked GK results. Like I thought earlier, this suggests to me that it should be possible to get past this "cap" legit, which I can confirm from my own save too. So is this even a big issue? Note also that there are only 8 players stuck at 604, only two of which I know. Have they got a specific situation, legit or otherwise, that caused them to stop at 604? Would everyone above 604 somehow got passed the "cap" by hacking? I can confirm they are not, at least one did it legit lol! Not accusing anyone (which would be ironic) of doing anything untoward, I think versions of various software and/or iCloud may have some effect, due to the very small number of people with the problem, especially compared to the large number of people above them.

I really want to see Slaweck get up there, Silver, rios, curi, Darth, etc and see what we can conclude.

With 4,000 spec points you should be pretty solid... 272 spec points is the OG cap.

Perhaps if Leandro reports how many stat points he actually lost to make the game "unplayable" then the developers can help, but otherwise I wouldn't be expecting any sort of patch until they know exactly what to fix.

Precisely, I didn't lose any spec points. It looked like I lost half a level. The weirdest thing, never seen it before, it levelled TWICE at 604 (so did I lose a whole level perhaps?), so I do think somehow there is something happening there, maybe severity is based on other factors. Coincidence maybe, but it was really weird to see. It's like how you may have a certain symptom or disease or whatever, but don't notice it until you look and/or you have another symptom.

Yes, we need to see what a whole bunch of established players do at level 600ish before we can really conclude things. Pardon my scientificish approach hahaha. Like I said, there are loads of people in GC that don't seem to have the level cap.

I got knocked back twice already at 604. The first time I had iCloud on and didn't notice anything abnormal (like negative RB) prior to the reset. The second time around, I first noticed negative RB around Level 593, then as I was getting closer to 604 I had a few backups just in case. Tried to cross it with/out iCloud, made no difference to me. Again it took away about 950 stat points. But with negative RB the Titan levels are way down around 500, so the impact is a lot easier to absorb, and the net result is I get to spend more time fighting the bosses instead of normal titans.

So congrats to Voice for simply walking past the devil without taking a hit while the rest of us get knocked down. There is nothing in your way towards GK 50K now.

Edit: After the reset I was left with about 5K total stat points, which is still plenty to tangle with GK for a while. The only problem with negative RB (aside from less challenge from regular titans) is that it made leveling up very slow. This may be a good thing since that buys me more time before hitting 604 again. Hopefully by then we'll have another update to address the issue.

Thanks rugged, wow that is some bug! So iCloud had no difference for second time you hit the cap? And -ve bloodline actually happened earlier? Perhaps that is a seperate bug on its own. And even after the cut, you have more spec points than me, how many did you have; the bug only took 20% of your spec points? The fact that it happened again at 604 clearly shows there is something with that number. btw I am a survivor hahahaha but I doubt I'll go much further than GK10k, I'll slow down nd see what the update gives, and hopefully that fixes this issue too.

I'm really interested to see why it affects some and not others. Guess we need to wait for more forum members to reach 600, because I don't know too many people at 604 or beyond on GC.

btw I don't know if devs would even care about this bug. We crazy obsessive players must only be 0.000001% of the players hey! More important for devs is to fix issues that affect most people I suppose. But if they can figure it out and fix, why not.

From my own experience the bug only takes away about 2x(604-123) = 960 points no matter how many points you have in total. If that holds true in the future its impact will be diminishing when my base stats keep growing. Ideally you'd think your base stats are yours to keep and nothing should ever take away from it. If it's put in for balancing purposes by dev, I'd much rather see them increasing the level of the enemies instead of reducing my stats.

True that. Have you gone back to earlier saves and looked to get past 604 in different ways? Like paying for levelling or tapping fast or letting it roll when you kill the titan near lvl 604?

Rather than buy potions every few fights I should just let the money cap steal that 45m and see if it spares me the second time (for anyone unfamiliar with the money cap, you get dropped to 45m if you hit 95m.)

I don't really have anything to sell but I tested it at least 20 times and on many different rebirths. The reason why I don't think it matters how I reach that total is that nothing happens right away. Instead the money disappears if I enter a new zone or if I log off and back on. I was just thinking that maybe it would only do that to me once since the 604 bug apparently has different results with each pass.

Edit: I'm skeptical but I will try liquidating my gems and tordans next time I'm close (I'll just back it up first). If that doesn't work then I will let it drop me normally then test it again after raising another 45m.

I'll try it too; as of now I only have $82m when I sell all my gems. so I'll save up some money -- $13m to exact? -- and sell them all again, so we both can run tests on this bug.

Hit 604 level cap again for the 3rd time yesterday. This time I tried several ways to get past 604 with backups, including using large sum of money to master high-xp items, defeat MX-Goliath to earn enough XP to pass one whole level, etc. I was able to get to level 605 and 606 at least momentarily. But once the game enters a new scene or a new RB, or upon restart, my level would get reset back to 123 (with the reduced stats scrambled) without exception. It's as if the game checks to see if your level is higher than 604 upon initializing and reset it if true. Tried on both iPhone 4s and iPad2 (running iOS 5.0.1, non-jailbroken) with or without iCloud turned on, same results.

I gave up trying and will just live with it for now. The impact of each reset is declining since my base stats has grown over time. Strange bug though.

That's exactly how the money cap bug works. You can get as much as you want but as soon as you enter a new zone or restart the game then it will kick in.


But question, how is the impact of each reset declining?

It only take away about 960 points each time, so if your base stats keep growing, then the ratio of 960/(base stats point) is declining.

He hacked the game of course! there is no other explanation; the same way he jumped from GK level 1,550 to 9,150 in one shot. I did not buy his excuse of "having no connection or playing "offline" so gamecenter was not getting updated" and I'm not the only one with this thought and you know it! then again I'm the only one voicing it ... funny huh? voicing it against "Voice of Freedom" ... snap!

Despite how angry i was after battling this bug for hours before finally succumbing to it, i will say there are two things about the 604 bug which DON'T suck:

1) I level up just about every battle now (sometimes every two), so I never have to use any potions or my ring of man any more to heal...although, this will go away at some point
2) I am regaining my lost stat points at a much quicker pace, as I'm getting +2 stat points per titan as my level increases rapidly

Unfortunately, that is about it...EVERYTHING else about the 604 bug is an absurdity...a preposterous bug which should have been fixed in early or mid january at the latest...

The workaround worked for more players; usually I get a quick thank you note via GC invitation ...

as far as your item #1 - Yes, you will level up faster now, the regular Titans will be kinda stuck at level 490 such as Shade, with reduced health so they are technically easier to beat; my Shade for example is at level 8,350. The exception for the bug is that the sentinels "Archivist", "Stone Demon" and "MX-Goliath" and "God King" which will not have their level/health/attack cut off, which bring us to your #2 item, if you don't allocate your stats right you will be in trouble, first because Epic steals about 940 points from you (as you know it takes 500+ levels to gather that number of points) and secondly, the harder sentinels ("Archivist", "Stone Demon" and "MX-Goliath") level, attack, health is never reduced by the bug as it is for the regular Titans, neither God-King of course, so it is a bummer in the end, not to mention that you are not fully enjoying the game as you can never be higher than level 604 and if the ClashMobs theory of using your own character, in this case NG+ character, you will be penalized there as well with a weaker character ... btw, you will notice that when defeating each sentinel you may jump 15, 20 levels in one shot.

Having said that, if you are a dual fighter I would reallocate the stats between attack and health, mostly attack, in doubt? attack (forget shield and magic, you don't need that. my shield and magic are set to "1").
