Epic Games recently added a new game mode (pretty sure it's a limited time event) called "Were All Stranded Now"....

Basically here's what it is:


Team Deathmatch with no Gears 3 Parties allowed
No Retro or Sawed Off as starting weapons
Retro Lancer is pick up weapon, which spawns at the pistol spawns. Other maps, it's the sawed-off.


After playing one game, i am in love with this gamemode.

So i made a poll to see if people would want to make it permanent.

I am going to sound like a grammar Nazi here, but this is the only grammatical mistake that I absolutely hate. The phrase is "I couldn't care less". To break it down, it means that I care so little about the topic that it is impossible for me to care less. When you say (or type) "I could care less," then that means you can care less, so it is not specific how much you care. If you can care less than you can be anywhere from caring slightly more than the least possible or caring very very much.

Now on relevant note, it sounds fun, but parties are one of the great aspects of the game. They allow for more strategic play. I don't really have much of an opinion on this gametype because I seem to dislike at least one aspect of each new event. I guess that is me being picky. So I guess I couldn't care less.

I know, i was saddened by the loss of the boltok as well...but i like the fact that i can wallbounce in peace without getting caught by the sawed off now. (at least while playing this mode)

After Gearsmas I was at 13 Events, and after playing this I was at 14. Unless there was an event betweenthis and that that I didn't notice looks like it counts as 1.

My only problem with this mode is quick match still being in it. The main reason why many players said that they play quick match was because of so called "stacked" teams in ranked. However with that one thing taken out I got into the playlist expecting to see many more people playing ranked and it is basically the same as before. Why is it that people still can't bring themselves to play ranked even when they have no chance of running into a full party.

This is an unnecessary playlist we don't need to add to the others, simply put 80% or more of players that play this game suck ass and I am just going to put that out there now. We already have 6 other playlist each with a quick match option for a total of 12 playlist and with this we have 14. What needs to happen is get rid of Alpha and in my opinion QM or at least the leaderboards for QM. Too many playlist spreading out the population for no reason, its already bad enough we have 4 variations of kill based gametypes for no reason.

A lone wolf/mercenary playlist by nature promotes less of the teamwork and communication that Epic's built the game around as it is; Whether or not the Sawed off and Retro Lancer are balanced or fair weapons, it's a fact that they aren't capable of providing the same kind of teamwork that the Lancer/Hammerburst/Gnasher can. They're truly weapons that help you, and very rarely a teammate. If they were kept in the playlist then far too many players would completely ignore the "teamwork" aspect of the game and go with those two weapons to increase the chances of their own individual survival.

It's not about regressing the game as much as it is being able to preserve what the game's meant to stand for. Epic has tried so hard to move away from the 1 man team gameplay Gnasher dominance creates, which unfortunately, is the same type of gameplay the Retro and Sawed Off create.

Besides, the difference between Gears 2 and 3 isn't just the Sawed off and Retro Lancer. There's also improved graphics, smoother gameplay, dedicated servers, new maps, new pickup weapons, and a slew of other things that make Gears 3 what it is. A couple of starter weapons being changed to pickup weapons doesn't change that this is a totally different game from GoW2.

There's no incentive to playing Ranked over playing QM.

There's no skill-based ranking system, the gameplay is largely the same, you're not guaranteed to find better or worse players in comparison to QM, and you're not guaranteed to be put in a match as quickly as possible. There's just no feasible reason for choosing Ranked over QM outside of any stock that's put in the word "Ranked". It means nothing in Gears 3 in all honesty.

As a player who constantly gets put up against stacked teams while playing with randoms, I welcome this gamemode. However I am not a fan of Alpha rules. I would prefer Epic to make seperate playlists in ranked for people who like to play by themselves.

If the game had the popularity level of MW3, maybe that could work. But essentially splitting up a community of people under 100,000 daily (Of which more than half are playing TDM) among 28 playlists is just asking for trouble. As it is there are times where you'll see numbers so low in a game mode that you actually can't find a match at some times of the day.

Hate the Retro bias. (before anyone asks, I have about 3x as many kills with the Gnasher)

All you need to do with the HB is rapidly mash RT. Not something hard to do. The HB works at any range and downs faster than the Retro. The HB's PAR is pathetically easy to hit, the Retro has the hardest PAR to hit. The HB has no recoil, the Retro does. Feathering to try and reduce the spray takes perfect timing, the HB only requires hitting the trigger quickly (which can be achieved by a mod). Hip fireing the Retro is more difficult than the HB because the HB has no recoil. The PAR from a hammy can kill from across the map and at CQC. The retro will only work at CQC.

If someone can explain why I'm wrong than please do (with an actual argument). And may I point out in advance that EPIC never said that the retro was for newbs.

I played two matches. First match the whole team disconnected, second match 3/5 disconnected. Also had 10 kills stolen between the two games. Fail.

No you should NOT be able to choose them, because that is the point of the gamemode. Those weapons are power weapons in "Were All Stranded Now", and that's what they should've been in the first place.

Without a doubt, the best thing epic have done in a long time. Cannot fault it, well maybe a little, sawed off should be allowed to start. The sawed off is only bad when a party uses it, not when one or two players on a team do.

I agree it is fun to play with a team of friends but when those people are unavailable or your friends don't play Gears it is a great option to have.

Havent tried it yet since i was playing with a party of 5 earlier on but i definately like the sound of it even if they dont make this a permament playlist they should create one where by you cant play with parties but i doubt it will happen, seems like every new playlist that comes out theres a large proportion of the gears community that want it to become permament :D

Had the exact same problem.. Though on my servers it's hard to find people in ranked in all game modes ranked...

LOL... are you serious.... do you have that much of a probelm with players who need to use Retro and DDS to get kills? Anybody that quits this game or rages because of those two guns is a noob for getting killed by them so much.

Hell, I hate TDM, re-spawn game types is cheap as far as i'm concerned. When your dead you should stay dead until the next round. i.e Warzone/Execution..

Also, Execution and Warzone has taken a big hit in terms of people who play since TDM was introduce to G3, but i don't wish Epic to remove it, even if i had the ability to do so.

There is no right or wrong way to play this game, it's all a matter of opinon... If your enjoing yourself then that's all that matters..

There is no right or wrong way to play this game, it's all a matter of opinon... If your enjoing yourself then that's all that matters..

Did i say i have a problem with those weapons? I don't. It's very refreshing to not have to deal with both of those weapons on a matchly basis.

I could care less about the playlist, as I'm not much of a fan of TDM, but I LOVE the idea of scraping private chats from the game as a whole. You're a hindrance to your team if you have a mic and choose to talk to your friends instead of your team. I miss teams communicating and working a strategy for the win.

Definately support, would like retro to be a starting weapon option though.. It brings more diversity. (I dont use it before you come with the ****, i have but dont atm) I want my Boltok as a pickup. No sawed off should be the only difference between this and normal TDM. Obv keep the no lobbies bit lol, there'd be no point to the playlist otherwise, ha! These are my opinions, if you dont like the retro then fine. I personally dont mind the odd sawed off around the place with the way they've balanced it..

the party system does not work.
because your friends can still join your game.
played with 3 friends yesterday in a game.

In this mode, you can only find a match by yourself.
No Retro or Sawed off starting weapons.
It's either Retro or Sawed off for pickup weapons, not both.
Retro spawns at pistols spawn, sawed off spawns at scorcher.
So its basically Alpha that you can only play by yourself.. What a waste of a Gametype.

It's great for loner players like myself, because I know I'm not going against coordinated teams in provate chat, even though the single players can still try to communcate. But it's good to find a group of other players who are also playing loner. I don't care as much about the weapon spawn as the community aspect of it.

I like the playlist but I wish that the starters weren't pickups even though I don't use em. Seeing different loadouts helps keep the game interesting for me.
It seems like I always join empty matches with 4 bots in the game might just be me.

Due to how small the community has become, a randoms vs randoms only playlist is exactly what this game needs and has renewed my play in the game. I was about to shelve it before this playlist came out. I'm not so happy about the weapon restrictions but i'd rather have the restrictions with a randoms vs randoms playlist than not have the playlsit at all.
