well, to me, the only person that i would think that would sell out Marcus and the rest of the COG would be Baird, because he's the @$$hole of the group (as said by CliffyB:p )...so sinces he's the a-hole of the group he would have the best chance of turning out to be the one that sells out the COG. but i dont think that will happen....;)

i highly doubt that. it would be a good twist in the plot, but how would a cog talk to a locust?

thats exactly what i was thinking, but i figured i would say Baird anyways:p ...and now that i think about it, no one on Delta or Alpha squad can talk like a Locust, but they could try to impersonate them!!:D

The fact that we are even considering that someone can "sell out" somebody else automatically implies that the locust are willing to negotiate, which we know for a fact to be false. Trying to talk to the locust has to be just as challenging as trying to convince a hungry pack of lions not to eat you, but eat the others. What happens after the COG are sold out? The Traitor would probably be the last Seran, in a planet inhabited by Locust? Unlikely

The traitor might have some sort of God complex, thinking that merging with Locust might make him invincible. Or the Locust has kidnapped the traitor's loved one as a bargaining chip. Whatever happens, it'll teach the traitor a lesson.

I felt that if GoW emphasise the strong bond between soldiers, there should a traitor angle in the story to shake things up.

Tyrant, the only way I see you "Traitor" theory happening is if Marcus and his crew get into a really hairy firefight, and one of his teammates deserts them so that the locust, focused on fighting Marcus don't have a chance to gt him, allowing him to escape. Or......maybe that new Lieutenant sends Marcus out on a suicide mission as if to get rid of him. Could happen.

thats a good theory. it would be a good way to end the game, with the others thinking marcus had died on a suicide mission but, actually he kicked ass and survived. then on gears 2, he regroups with them..

we are not sure if they speak a crazy locust language or speak english, but in some article it says they tried to make a compromise, so maybe they can talk or communicate in someway, o well if it was up to me i would just boomshot them:D

There are Seran humans still loyal to their home country that they're willing to negotiate with the Locusts so that their country is spared while COG falls. The old enemy of my enemy plot.

Locusts negotiate with thier guns.

It's still a plausible theory though. You still have countries on Sera that holds a grudge against the COG for having their asses kicked in Pendulum Wars. So maybe, these countries have an advantage that the COG don't. Still, they'll pay the price though.

I don't have really a theory on a traitor aspect of the game, because I don't see it possible. The Locust Horde is a brutal enemy that attack in a animal like fashion, coupled with their apparant intelligence. They do not listen to reason, not to pleas or begging, nor do they strike deals. Now, there may be a special few of the Locust Horde's command structure that'll recognize the usefulness of accepting traitorous help, yet I find it unlikely.

Now, this new Gear, Lieutenant Kim, is feeling a little left out by the COG, and maybe for glory, he'll pick any side that'll offer it to him. If, and only if, the Horde works with him, they'll kill him after his usefulness to them is depleted.

That's my only theory, but the Locust Horde is not the same as the Covenant from the Halo games. They don't figure through rational thought in a passive or even human process. Just remember that.

That's exactly the point of the subplot. You can't make deals with the Locusts, Locusts don't even make deals.

I thought of something.

If negotiations were attempted, then that could mean it's possible for Serans and the Locust Horde to communicate somehow. The Locusts may be blackmailing a certain COG (maybe an officer or something) to act as a spy, reporting troop locations and such to the Locust. And in the end, he could go double agent against the Locust by giving them faulty information and sending them into a huge ambush or something.

I doubt this'll happen, but it seemed like kind of a cool scenario in my mind.

okay, no offence intended, but nobody will betray.. would they give up the info before the locust bite their head off or after?! i think its too holly wood like, too well cruddy.. maybe human traitors, they all had to team up to fight the locust after all... but i hope none of the above. give me a gun and point me in the right direction! i dont need complex stories!!!!
