View Full Version : Complaint Filed for saying GG?

I just faced this MW clan and they were REALLY good.

We managed to hold our ground and beat them; afterwards I sent them a message saying "GG! You're team is good!"
They replied, "areyouseriousbro? complaint filed"

The community these days... :(

Go and look up how the complaint sistem works.

False complaints just makes it more likely that future complaints made by them are just gonna get ignored. So don't worry.

When I use to clan on PC years ago every game started with a GL&HF (Good luck and have fun) and ended with a GG (good game). Sadly gaming is full of mongs these days and all respect and etiquette has gone out of the window.

GG to me has always meant Good Game. Saying that, I've never actually used it since Pro Evo 6...

GG or Good Game in the competitive circuit is used to tell the other team to quit or that you've allready won the game. Basically GG went from being something nice to say to replacing the term QQ which orginally meant to quit because the newest generation of gamers misinterpreted older gamers use of QQ as meaning whining or crying and there has been no turning back.

Some people get so butt hurt about losing, dude. I'm glad to see at least a sliver of good sportsmanship still lives, at least. Respect.

What, are they going to ban you for attempting to be polite? Don't worry about it and take comfort in the fact that you're a nicer person than those quank donkeys.

If he reported him for saying GG, then thats gonna backfire on him for abusing the report system.

the most he could have done was avoid the guy.

Oh, and yeah, if he actually filed a complaint against you (say, for a harassing message) and it's investigated, they will, of course, find the complaint to be completely false and the complainer may get into trouble. Falsely filing a complaint against someone when they have done nothing wrong is against the Code of Conduct. So if he actually filed a complaint, he's digging a hole for himself.

Which is ironic. If he actually read the Code of Conduct that he's claiming you broke, he would have known that. The only reason he said "complaint filed" was to attempt to scare you, and if for some impossible reason you were banned, he'd be able to have the last laugh. Which is stupid, because only a weirdo stalker would keep track of you, to see if you've been banned or not. Many so-called "clans" have this MLG mentality: "Since I'm in a clan, that means I'm MLG, and that means that no one can beat me now. Every time I die from here on out is not my fault, and every time I lose the enemy cheated. I iz teh greatest." This might also be the reason he threatened you like an idiot with a complaint. But either way, either nothing happens and he forgets the match never happened, or the team that handles the complaint system will have a few not-so-nice words to say to him. One of them might be "Banned." It's not a perma-ban offense I don't think, but still, he just might get his just desserts.

Exactly. When the com is filed Xbox can track it. It is actually like them filing against their selves if its false. not sure but it could lead to them getting a temp ban eventually.

I hear ya man. The online community was pretty tight back then. Everybody was friendly and helped each other out, especially the noobs. They actually tried to give pointers so that they'd improve. Now everybody just hides behind the internet saying stuff they wouldn't have the guts to say to your face. Of course that's an over simplification. A lot of folks on these forums are pretty cool. Just look at the threads started by people wanting to help others get achievements and unlocks. I realize they are trying to get the same achievements, but some of them help just because they can. I know there were a bunch of people who helped unlock Therons in Beast that already had it unlocked. That's class.

@OP: Don't let it get to you. You just hurt their little feelings by beating them at a game they obviously feel they dominate. They're just trying to shake you up because they can't beat you otherwise.

Just say 'Good game' rather than 'GG' if you feel the need to say it. Abbreviates like this probably mostly cause confusion. I also hate 'GG' with a passion and I don't immediately think 'good game' when I read it.

Still, it's just text and people can think you're sarcastic. If I want to compliment someone I usually try to make sure they know I'm serious, for example I say something like 'a pleasure playing' followed by a smiley face. :)

But it's just a message, don't get why this is so important. Some people will not appreciate these things, others will. Not something we can change, right?

Man, I miss the days of Day of Defeat 24/7 Avalanche map, or CS 24/7 cs_office map. Every match the chat was filled with "gg" and the chat during the game was nothing but jokes and light-hearted trash talk, we were all enjoying the game. If you raged, you were a ***got. Maybe it's just nostalgia getting in the way of what actually happened, but I remember a time when games were played and fun was had regardless of the glitches or unfair weapon balancing. The MG42 on DoD was practically a laser cannon compared to the Allied .50 cal, but that was just how it worked. Axis got the deadly kar98 and the ****ty mp40, allied got the meh garand and the badass thompson. Not too mention the superfluous guns like the grease gun and gewehr 48. Nowadays people blame the developers the instant they die, or they blame lag. The phrase "Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose, that's not weakness, that's life." is oh so applicable. People need to man the **** up and realize we're all just playing to have fun, the assholes who grief and talk a big game are just that, assholes. Ugh.. /endrant. It saddens me to see gamers who take themselves seriously, anyone who takes them self too seriously really.

Pretty much why I avoid using shorthand or "text-speak" in any message I send. When my spelling and diction are clear and easily understood, there is no way that whatever message I send will be misconstrued or misunderstood.

Honestly, the GoW community in particular takes things way more serious than they really are. Two days ago, I accidentally stole a kill, so... because I have morals, and respect I chose to apologize. The guy I stole the kill from goes on a rant for 5 games about how I suck, I only have the most kills because I'm stealing everyone's... blah blah blah. Funny though, because I had MVP for the last 5+ games -_-

I still remember alot of stupid rage and people swearing in allchat. Usually just meant your usual server was down though so you were playing elsewhere out in the wild. People raging over rushes, or playing ceratin classes on certain matches.

But yeah the online community back in the day was way better. But lets all agree why. PC gaming was less accessible to younger kids. Console gaming hell every parent buys a console and an online subscription and tosses them at their kids now a days. Why? Because its a great babysitter. I'll admit to have done it before. You can give a kid a game and leave them their at 6 pm go spend a nice evening out and come home at 3 am and they didn't miss you one bit. The issue is that many parents don't watch what their kids are playing and don't check their mouths and attitude to keep them inline.

Ahhh I miss the old days. This new Tribes Ascendant beta is bringing it back for me so far. Everyones been the old school type cept for 2 newer gamers I've seen so far.

GG, Good Luck, Nice Shot, Shazzbot!, Come take this flag from me, tips and tricks given to other players. Man I feel like I'm playing Quake in someones garage again.

Say "GG" for another sports game or Street Fighter (where I do get a lot of "GG" msgs after a match), just forget about it in Gears.

I'm not defending some of the loud mouths/angry messengers, but Gears 3 still has connection problems and can be frustrating at times. Also, many people still aren't knowledgeable about the weapons and underestimate how fast AR can down you. Even though it's their fault for the ignorance, it doesn't soften their frustration - it only increases it.

So the last thing you want to do is say "GG" after your victory because it does seem like you're twisting the knife. You won AND you're getting in the last word. If you lost a frustrating match that you felt you should've won and are on the bottom two (just couldn't get anything going that match), I bet the last thing you want to hear is "GG" from the winning team that's sitting pretty with 20 kills compared to your 3 kills.

When I used to play Rome: Total War, 'gg' always meant good game. I guess they must have interpreted differently though, and thought it was a sarcastic comment.

I agree with what's been said though, gaming used to have more respect and friendliness. I know it's just a game and not a war, but it was nice when people could be nice to each other. I still get that ocassionally, and I do send the odd 'great game' message to random people :)

When I use to clan on PC years ago every game started with a GL&HF (Good luck and have fun) and ended with a GG (good game). Sadly gaming is full of mongs these days and all respect and etiquette has gone out of the window.

I'll agree the influx of casuals in most games in the past 3 or 4 years has caused the community to become oversaturated with douchebags. However, I will say that I'm not really into the formality of GL HF and GG afterwards, because quite frankly, it's a load of bull****. There are some people that genuinely mean it, and I can usually tell. But all too many times I've run into people that are arrogant pricks that say that smugly after they win, it's annoying.

I don't believe in etiquette, however I think truly that if it was a GG than more often than not people want to party up, FR you, or at least make a more specific comment like "GG yo, that was intense as hell" or some **** like that.

But most people that seem to spout off GL HF, GG like robots are usually jackasses.

@OP, yeah it is stupid, but that's XBL these days for you. I used to play MGO (Metal Gear Online) on the PS3 for quite some time, it was a pretty competitive game, point is kids used to say stupid **** like GG (Get Good) scrub all the time, and it got confusing when people said GG (good game). Eventually we had to just start formally typing it LOL. Haha, at least these assholes have mostly stopped using N3 (No Name Noob).

One that really pisses me off is BK, anytime someone calls someone else a BK (Bad Kid) they gain my instant d-bag seal of approval. I mean, bad kid, really? Lol, then I start picking at their frail ego's and personality and all they can say is "you're bad kid, you're garbage!".

I remember it was Warzone on Checkout, me and a buddy were carrying the team and it was a 2v2 remaining. Me and him were using basic callouts and just coordinating trying to win the match, and these two ass goblins on our team said "omg they're liek trying so hard, they're using callouts and everything like a buncha MLG wannabees!" So I basically make it extremely apparent that his frail attempts at humor are only amusing for about 30 seconds and then he becomes boring and predictable and how his whole existence boils down to a single state of mind, which basically means he's a simple moron.

All he could do was tell me I smelled like **** over the internet then proceed to try really hard afterwards to impress me, gets blown away, then figures if he can't win it, nobody can and throws himself at the enemy for the next few rounds.

Past all my ranting, and my random story, lies a point.

The gaming community is not what it used to be in terms of just true blue gamers, the term gamer has become a pop term now just thrown around. You don't have to play games all day to be a "gamer", you just have to appreciate their entertainment value and ability to make people feel different things instead of just being a stupid social tool. The community overall as is, is taking a nosedive in maturity. Regardless of how people act (like how you just experienced) continue to be a good community member. Because at the very least, you can take solace in the fact that you're not a part of the problem, that's all.
