definetly one of my favorite gears pics http://www.gowonline.com/gallery2/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=6 but what is dom shooting at? is that a locust with a mask on? why would they need masks?

well thats just another type of Drone, it is the same thing as a regular drone but it wears a mask (like the brumak and the corpser), i guess some locusts are more sensitive to the light than others, just like some humans need glasses and some dont, the "masked drone" is in alot of videos too....nuthin special

Yeah, either that or a big, mutated version of a Combine soldier from Half-Life 2.

Truth be told, I think the Locust are a bit freakier with the mask on. It leaves more to the imagination about what, exactly, lies under it...

well, some drones wear Helmets and i think that might be a type of helmet. and yes, you can shoot them off, watch the stage-demo with Rod Fergusson, he says "I can lean out with the LT, and start throwin some blood, and knock their helmets off.":D i've watched that vid a thousand times.

i think it will only happen in SP(not sure if u can be a masked locust or helmeted COG/red shirt, but cliffy hinted at it), so it will only piss of a locust if u shoot of his mask, i dont think u can do that in MP, b/c it would kind of mess with the gameplay if ur mask was shot of in the middle of battle, u know what i mean..............

Seriously though, they wear masks just like the predator. Different kinds of vision. It helps them with sight since they're underground dwellers and all have poor to 0 sight.

Or.... as you may have noticed the CoGs have marcus and his crew, none of which wear masks, yet the red shirts wear masks?

Think about it, maybe those hardcore Bizzles on the locusts like marcus dont wear masks, but the red shirt equivilent locusts do...

notice how the masked guy is gettin pwned in the pic, but the unmasked guy is still alive... o yea...

cliffy explain that in some interview, the red shirts were helmets b/c they have a viewing system like GRAW, but it takes away from there peripheral vision, so smart COGs dont wear them, and so they live longer.

So basicly the best tactic for CoG would be 3-4 men without masks and 2 with masked :rolleyes:

That may actually be it. It's why you only see a couple red shirts with Delta in most screens.

well thats strat from cliffyb, so i know its true, some red shirts are stupid so they wear the helmets, marcus and his squad are smart and dont, so they live longer..............

It's a taste thing. Some soldiers choose to wear it, some don't. Kind of like bikers, really. Some believe it'll save their butt, others think it hurts their peripheral vision.

Anyways, regarding the Locust - you have to knock their helmets off before you can get a headshot.

do u mean helmet instead of head? all you have to do is shoot them in the head, and POP off comes the helmet!!:D or like u said, u could just chop 'em up with the trusty chainsaw!!:p

i bet the helmet works the same way as the one in halo 2 on the brutes do, it protects from 1 snipe, but then falls off!^!
