Just to inform anyone who is currently waiting for this to be released. It is finaly here. Going back through some bugs with cooking the files and packaging the game, only one of the files was being produced.

So now that has been attended and fixed I hope that this will help anyone with creating quick and easy levels they wish to choose, with either the 4 different environment maps.

For an example, if you want the desert's terrain but you dont want the desert theme, you can always alter the terrain materials to your desire.

This has been a really cool tool created to help users for a starting environment, that is game ready.

I hope people use this as I am going to stop designing things for a while..

Just look for the download on the site, as I'm not posting the link here. So please Visit Page (http://www.delvegames.net/delvefc.htm)

Also look for any hidden items through any of the maps. there isn't many but there is hidden things whether it be images etc.

Idk if anyone noticed but I have found a bug with trying to open these files in udk. They would seem to crash the program. so I will be putting a fixed patch of these files and including packages, as an update here shortly. sorry if anyone was having a hard time with this. just check back on the site @ http://www.delvegames.net/delvefc.htm

I'm not entirely sure what this is and what it includes. I see a lot of terrain (probably what inflates the file up to 700mb), textures included and maybe some speedtrees and static meshes.
Could you make a small description abot what it includes? So people can decide if it's of use to them before downloading such a big file.
oh and thanks for sharing this!

Yeah sorry, my communications skills aren't the greatest.. I have actually updated the link and the file size was reduced dramatically. Down to around 300 MB.

What your gonna see once you download the file, two folders with a readme. The first folder is the maps, and the other with resource packages. The map folder contains templates for you to start building your levels from the terrain that I have provided and a skybox so you wont have to mess with all that junk, making it easier.

You are basically getting what is literally called a "Sandbox". A gigantic playground! lol. What it contains is, a kill boundary. And kismet will show you how it was set up. Which its through all of the four maps. you get some sample models to mess with, and prefabs too. Depending which template package your using. I also did some work with the Desert Sandbox template involving some dynamic music. If you downloaded the sandbox demo and played it. You would have noticed it.

What you will also find in kismet of the Desert Sandbox is the setup of Battlefield 2: Modern Combat's multiplayer music. Like for example you start in the level and you have some calm music. Then once you get inside a vehicle you get some driving music. In combat, some combat music, and so on. Could use a little fine tuning here and there but it works.

I also had a start for split screen in kismet, (which your gonna have to look for, I hid it, lol) for each of the maps but it needs finished. So I'm leaving up to the community to finish it.

You will get all the resources that these maps will need like for instance, textures. Of course whats a map without textures, some models, and some speedtrees, (which is amazing, when it comes to quickly designing a tree for a level).

The terrain is well big enough to house any kind of map you want to create on. because I went from corner to corner, measuring the distance and found that the map was 187966 unreal units which was the same as 187966 in cm. So do the math there!

But that is just about it for Sandbox, and yeah so much for a small description lol.

And no problem, anything that becomes of use to anyone, makes life better! Hope you all enjoy!

crap! SOPA strikes again
I never downloaded this because of the huge size and little description, but your new description has convinced me it'd be a great resource (and the dynamic music is a nice plus!)
I'd just ask about the license for the included objects/meshes/stuff: is it free to use in a commercial game?
anyway please upload it somewhere else! and thanks again :)

Yeah sorry about that earlier.. The reason it was so huge is that it was already packed, but I replaced it with the raw content straight from the actual files themselves. So it became to be a smaller download, which is weird lol.

Sandbox is free for commercial gaming, However. Some assets did belong to UDK inside some of the sandbox levels and other various known objects like a Pelican from Halo, and a warthog, and such. So you gotta pick out what is free for anyone for commercial use and what isn't without the license. I dont know if the music is still in the packages for Sandbox Desert map at all but, music is also a big player in that as well.

For Commercial use of Sandbox alone, must I receive credit for what is due. That is it. UDK Sandbox is free for NON-commercial use, thats why I put "UDK" in front of "Sandbox".

If you are going to use the Sandbox just please let me know and add: ' Sandbox Package - Trevor Potprocky - Level Layout Designer ' or something similar. Thats all I ask.

Just send me a pm for any other info about Sandbox and I can easily help you or anyone in fact.

I'll have it uploaded to a new location later on this afternoon. I will also re-update the links and also might throw in an extra map.

Sorry for all the hastle and yes S.O.P.A. Strikes again.. Trust your uploader!

Okay UDK Sandbox is now back online in its new location, Gamefront.com. This is where all of our most important files will be located such as, UDK Sandbox. You can now visit UDKSandbox under projects in the nav link at the top.

Have fun and enjoy. Sorry the Demo of sandbox will not be released since we did not keep a backup of the file. So untill further notice the Sandbox demo will be unavailable.

What build of UDK did you create all the stuff in?
I'm getting thousands of map errors and missing stuff errors! There are also references to the old UI scene stuff in the logs...
Don't get me wrong, all the assets alone are great but the maps aren't really usable as they are! :) I just thought if I run it in a version of UDK closer to the time it was constructed in, it might give less errors!

lol if you check on the site, maybe you would find out what version XD. but its september 2010 version lol. The reason why I chose this is because I can't use flash. But the desert map I think was the only one that used the simple UI. Also make sure your placing the files in the correct location if your using a more modern version.

(Spoiler alert!) Also note that I am working on a larger map as I post this message. So stay tuned on the site and here. I will go ahead and tell you what version you must have for this download which will be the December 2011 version and Up.

Edit:
Correction.. The reason there was old UI scenes in place was also for the boundaries which would count down when the player would get to close to the edge of the map. The same effect when you do it in Halo: Reach.

Most of you will notice that a few things are missing thats because of the lack of resources that the package couldn't find. To fix that just easily replace that with your stuff, or add more/ delete what ever you not going to use.

I've tested this a couple months back on a newer UDK and got what most people are talking about from those errors. Im still working on a fix for that, also working on a brand new game, and also working on the new world environment for UDK for starters (Sandbox 2.0). And going to school and working..... I have a lot on my plate.

If anyone wants to help pitch in you are more than welcome too! Just sorry for all the delays so far..

Alright some sad news but its well worth it, As far as UDK has gone for me literally has been no where. Unfortunately I am going to be dropping support for the UDK Sandbox Starter kit, but in the meantime work on the last version of 2.0 to you guy's and only by pm as I wan't to keep traffic on the low for the site as much is changing off its platform. So here in about a few hours I will hopefully be working on the single, most real world type map that will be able to run on most machines without low FPS. I am not going to put any textures to the terrain, that is all on you as that will be your job to finish, besides the atmosphere and such.

If you wish to see what else has been going on head on over to our site and check us out in-case you haven't for the first time.

Edit 12/30/2012 12:34: UDK Sandbox will no longer be supported by Delve Games. We are dropping the elongated support and will be removed from our site within the next 48 hours from now. Thanks for those finding UDK Sandbox useful as part of their starting points to their projects. We hope you pass on the UDK Sandbox that created the new form to making levels of your own. After the 48 hour mark you will notice the removal of the Sandbox page from our site, and no longer accessible from gamefront.com In terms of the Sandbox 2.0, for the hard efforts of trying to make it happen, couldn't see the day of light and will available in the near future.

We ask that the forum moderators close this thread as no more discussions can be made for this.

Thanks alot for this, it is really helpful, as i cannot create very much models with detail in, and i am rather low when it comes to creating terrain. Thanks for the help, and i hope that you create some more work in the future!
