I don't know about you guys, but it really pisses me off when i go to shotgun somebody to the face, and i expect that nice crunchy sound of their head exploding, but to my surprise i hear that sound of invincibility, them not getting hurt at all because of spawn protection.

This is a very annoying problem because most of the maps the way they are designed, the spawns are right in the "main play field", and when you spawn you are right in the action.

I have wasted many torques/booms/snipes on people because i thought they were camping at the spawn or something, but just had spawn protection.

I was just wondering on people's thoughts of when you had spawn protection you had a bubble around you, or maybe you would glow or something. I just want a way to know when i can't kill somebody.

It sucks! And protection should end if the one who has spawn protection does something offensive. Just today enemy was chainsawing my teammate and I tried to blast his face off but just heard that annoying sound and then he killed me too. Nice!

I spawned with 5 secs of invincibility, I saw a gnasher guy and I revved my chainsaw and cornered him, he couldn't do a damn thing but take it up the ass.

Yeah, I agree that someway to tell they have spawn protection would be nice without wasteing any shot on them. Also, anybody with spawn protection should lose it as soon as they fire a bullet.

I feel that players shouldn't be able to fire at all till the spawn protection wears off. That would be a better trade off than losing the protection upon firing your weapon.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't players (just after spawning) have some sort of glowing aura around them, blue/aqua-ish for COG, red for locust.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, as I'm colourblind & my eyes may literally be playing tricks on me.

I would like the spawn protection to be limited to an specific area of the map and time simultaneously. As if they leave the area that provides protection they lose it and if they stay too long in it they lose it aswell. At the same time the first shot should disable it. This way they have enough time to get to a reasonably safe area, in Checkout you can pretty much mantain your spawn protection all the way until the mulcher so limiting spawn protection to the Home Goods spawn and Pharmacy Spawn(aside from KOTH) would be much more reasonable, and if they try to kill someone else he can fight back although this wouldnt work as well with weapons that can instantly gib but better than not being able to do anything for 5 more seconds I guess.

I don't know what gametype you're playing OP, but for me spawn protection always wears off when I get out of the first area of where I spawned. I've hardly ever spawned right in the middle of battle or even close to it for that matter. Also, you should know when someone has recently spawned judgeing by where they are or just came from.

So, stop spawn camping and everything will be fine.

mostly TDM, it is really bad on hotel i find, by the doors i see them running, shoot them in the face, and nothing. If you play execution you wont find this a problem, but TDM it is horrific

Totally agree with OP. It is obnoxious as hell. I think it would be easy enough just to stick some cover inside the spawn and cut spawn protection to 2 seconds, but clearly necessary to remove it as soon as the bro fires. I primarily play TDM and Warzone, so I don't know how spawns work in the other games, but it must be even more frustrating where the spawns are even less predictable.

I should add that it is a terrible counterargument to say the player should judge who has spawn protection. Consider Mercy: some of the best cover is right near spawn, and the map is small enough that you can see every spawn from balcony. And it is flat out ridiculous for a guy to be lining up his boltok while invincible, which is very possible on that map.

They have the 'Aura' All the time, if you are looking at them through the snipe scope! Happens in all 3 Gears games :)
