It looks good on paper, but IMO, it would just cause head-aches. How would you account when you down someone, you get killed yourself, and one of your teammates finishes the guy off? Would that be considered a stolen kill, even though you weren't alive to kill him yourself?

I think your assists and down shows more than enough info about how many kills you lost.

no it wouldn't be stolen because he's dead. If your dead you wouldn't be able to claim your kill regardless. so it's fair game if you die. and i agree with the OP
