So, I'm a college student, living on campus. Now, most college campuses would be nice enough to at least give you a reasonable connection. Not mine. In fact, I did a speedtest today just to amuse myself, my campus provides a 1.42 mb/s download and a .98 mb/s upload. Have 1000 people at any given time using that, and it's literally driving you to the point of insanity.

So I hear that Gears 3 is going to have dedicated servers. I know some other games have promised them before, but never really delivered, but I figured since Gears is such a popular and established game, the company would hold true to that promise.

All these methods of checking to see if you're on P2P or not, yeah, luckily for me I don't have to do that stuff. I just have to see how frequently my character teleports.

Fact is, for people in my situation, which granted I know is a minority, Gears 3 is unplayable. I have to rely on my campus' internet having spikes of little to no activity to have a CHANCE at getting a kill.

Please, give people like me a CHANCE to play at a competitive level. I loved Gears 1 and 2, and I've had games on the dedicated servers that are just amazing, and insanely fun, and I want to be able to experience that consistently. Am I asking too much? Probably, but it never hurts to bring it up.

Most of my games in the past week and two days have been on servers.

Amen to that man, I'm sitting in the library at mine right now, 9-10mbps. Wish I could game here. Actually, I probably could if I just brought my system and stuff. Bummer about your stuff though. I actually haven't seen that much lag, but I also don't know when I'm on or off dedicated servers.

I haven't had a problem and my internet is not the best either

Up until yesterday I was able to say the same. Yesterday and today have been nothing but teleportation-fests.

A problem may be that my college is in the middle of a huge farm-town, so it's probably not close to anything that resembles a service tower.

I have only had 3-4 games where people teleported. My bigger issue is in game freezes where host switches and my whole team is dropped.

Servers are inconsistent. One moment they work, another they don't.

It'd be one thing if I knew going into a game whether I was going to be on dedicated or not. Just a nice text at the bottom saying "Dedicated servers: ONLINE" or something, so I knew that it was a good time to play.

Yeah on the sign in page.
when you select a game type and move to the next page, it tells you how many are in your area then on the next page how many are playing that game type.
it should also tell you if the severs are up on that page.
Epic, Is it really a national security issue whether or not the servers are up?????
