Bare with me, I know there are a lot of these treads so Ill be quick and to the point.

It was stated that the SOS & Retro were intended for New Players but Veterans are the ones abusing them lets face it.

Solution:

Level restriction on the Sawed of and the Retro Lancer.

Sawed off can be used up to level 25 in public/ranked

Retro Lancer can be used up to level 30 public/ranked.

The issue is not the New Players abusing the new player made weapons, but the teams of veterans taking advantage of them.
This option allows new players coming in to get acquainted with gears online with a slight advantage in weapons and once familiar with the game, will no longer be able to use the New Player weapons.

The level restriction where just my idea of how long it would take to get a feel for the game.

Medals and weapon skins all restrict this from happening

You seem to be confusing rank with skill.

Somebody with meager skills like myself can levelup to 100 given enough time and retrospectively, someone who is level 5 could be the best gears player ever, just working himself up the ranks.

DBS and Retro level the playing field. Deal with it.

I don't get what the problem is with the retro lancer. It's perfectly balanced. It's definitely not an easy gun to use. I know someone's gonna come in here and say 'it only takes 6 shots to down', yea sure when you're shooting against a unmoving player in a youtube video. Truth is those 6 shots are hard to land at medium range, and almost impossible at further rangers. The retro lancer is a perfect defense against shotguns for those who don't like using shotguns, and there's nothing wrong with that. If someone's using a retro lancer, put away your shotgun and pull out your rifle.

you can still achieve all of these medals though, In game, Private, Horde, Beast etc. These restriction will only be placed on player vs player public/Ranked.

In my opinion, it's a stupid idea. You can be level 50 from just playing Horde all the time, you know... The SOS and Retro and EVERYTHING is fine as it is, players just need to learn how to play properly instead of whining that they got owned and can't use the same stupid strategy they used in Gears 2.

So bring in a new weapon only to restrict it from you later on? Doesn't sound very logical to me. If you grow to prefer the Sawed Off and Retro at a lower rank, vet or not, you should have that right to use it as you'd like whenever you want. I don't understand why people want to completely remove elements of the game that Epic clearly wanted in the game. They had an extra year to polish the game off and could have removed those weapons if they thought it to be entirely necessary. They didn't remove them before launch, they most certainly won't remove them now. The ONLY thing they could do is TWEAK it. Stop talking about the removal of added weapons. It's not going to happen people.

Private - Boost
Horde + Campaign - Don't go towards Onyx

That's the point, you have to use the Retro Lancer to counter the SOS rushers. If the SOS rushers were taken out of the picture then the Retro Lancer would not be a requirement to deal with it.

You, sir, have drawn reason out of chaos in this Sawed Off raging confusion. I respect that greatly.

The weapon is in there for everyone to use. If your a pro, you probably won't be using it unless that is how you role, but you will be judged because of that.

Why does everyone want to take out the new weapons? Gears of War 2 is still perfectly playable.

...Well, figuratively speaking.

Guns were placed here for a reason? Yes, Both of them to help newer players? No. As I have stated in another topic. I bought the game knowing what the SoS could do and what it was for. As did all of you. I bought the game knowing I would get raped alot by cheap tactics as you will find in any other online multiplayer. As did all of you. I even pre-ordered the game and stayed up all night launch day knowing all of this. As did most of you. I find the retro to be a wonderfully satisfying gun to use once you have the skill for it (yes, this gun does require skill) I understand that new stuff is scary. It always is, over time you will grow accustomed to it and everything will fall in to place. Don't worry my fellow gear heads I ahve been enjoying changing my playing style to accomodate these new weapons tremendously. Sit back and enjoy the ride folks!

Why should people have to play private, horde, or beast to get these medals when playing ranked is what they like to do most?

Seriously, stop making this kind of threads. Mark my words, level restrictions on starting weapons will NEVER happen.
