Campaign Deaths.

Anyone else expecting more deaths in the campaign?

I always thought Dom would die, and he did in a suitably epic and emotional way, but I was expecting a massive battle in the final chapter with at least 2+ people kicking the bucket. Sounds kind of wierd, but was anyone else dissapointed that everyone else survived? The way Epic were hinting I always assumed there'd be a handful left lol. But apart from Dom and Prescott (who cares about Prescott) I don't really remember anyone else dieing.

I thought the same thing. I also thought Baird and/or Cole might die. Carmine was impossible to call as Epic managed to keep the results of the promotion under wraps. In fact, I'd like to know how close it was now I know he lives.

I honestly thought the Queen was somehow going to escape again, like she did in 1 and 2. Was great to see Marcus impale her on Dom's combat knife and tell her what's up.

Lowe (I'm presuming that the Onyx Guards that return with Prescott are those two, it would make sense. Feel free to contest this if you wish)

That's quite a lot, compared to the other two games. In fact, Gears 3 has more character deaths than the previous two games combined.

I had myself prepared for Marcus sacrificing himself at the end to kill the Locust and Lambent (not knowing what Adam's weapon was at the time), I didn't expect Dom to die, that caught me off guard I must admit.

I had prepared myself for the whole of Delta Squad to meet their end at some point or other, still didnt take the pain away of losing Dom

Not enough people died. Cole should have died because he has nothing. Baird will end up with Sam, Marcus with Anya.

We needed more people to die to show the cost of war in the third game. Unfortunately Epic missed out and didn't make it emotional enough. Showing a happy, exciting character like Cole can die is showing that war affects everyone.

a few of the moments I kept thinking that Anya would die since that would be a big surprise.

Baird should've died from a butcher
Cole should've died at the thrashball statium (not from an explosion)
The Queen should've been eaten by the lambent
Adam should've found the mutiverse and turned into dust.
Sam and Jace should've tried to fight a (locust) bezerker with their hands

And please god someone explain to me why Marcus didn't die. Didn't live up to the Brothers to the End slogan.

Showing a happy, exciting character like Cole can die is showing that war affects everyone. I do agree with this, and Cole would've been a great choice, my only disagreement is towards him having nothing. I also think maybe Sam could've gone out in a heroic way like her father, perhaps saving Clay/With Clay like on the full front cover, holding off the enemy while the rest of Delta get on with the mission.

This. For some odd reason I thought Epic would throw a curveball at us and kill Cole. Would of been great to see the emotion from Baird if that happened. And... you're right, Baird and Sam, and Marcus and Anya.

This too lol. From reading the books I wanted to see if Michaelson or Mathieson had any major parts. I also wanted to see Trescu in person. Not just a voice over. Maybe future DLC will be Cole and Baird find the UIR, and Trescu becoming an online character!

Michaelson was the last Gentleman, so yes, I was disappointed. You don't see how Rivera and Lowe die, but since they are Prescotts bodyguards and he is dead, it's safe to say they are too.

And guys, is it just me, or isn't it strange how after the attack on the raven's nest, it's like well forget everybody in the life boats let's go on an adventure??? I mean geez not everybody died in the attack that really kinda ruffled my feathers.

Yeah, I'd have liked to know where the remnants of Jacinto regrouped after Sovereign was destroyed =/ I'm hoping we'll get some DLC for that too. I mean, those civvies and Gears were mostly there from the start, so it felt wrong not knowing where they ended up after that part and yet knowing the Pelruan people were safe-ish.

not gonna lie i thought either as someone previously said, marcus would die by sacrificing himself or doing something basically.
i had a feeling adam would die but was hoping he wouldn't.
dom i saw that one coming as soon as i saw the chapter name basically (which was slightly rhetorical since it was brothers to the end and it wasn't the end of the game, however it could be taken as the end of their journey together).

all in all i actually expected (and kinda wanted) some sort of apocalyptic ending for gears, with all or atleast majority of dying, (all could've been more epic though).
And with Adam saying at the beginning of gears 3 that the imulsion was killing the planet i figured that everyone would die since there would be nothing to live for.

clearly that wasn't the case and epic went a bit of the pansy way out and was just like,
KAY THE LOCUST AND LAMBENT ARE DEAD WITH THIS SUPER SECRET WEAPON THAT ADAM (WHOS ALIVE BTW) TOOK 20 YEARS TO MAKE
EVERYONE ELSE LIVES
THE END :D

was slightly disappointing but oh well.

again this is just my opinion, i'm not bashing epic out here and am very happy with the rest of the game, just not the ending :P

I wanted Sam, Jace, Dizzy, and Carmine to die, woulda made things so tragic and leave you finally with the "what do we have left now" feeling

well my thought where:

marcus could not die, i mean he is the main char so that could never happen.

dom it suprised me never thought of him goind to die, but it felt right it was a beatifull scene.

cole he could not die for several reasons:
1. he tells in gow 1 that his momma always told him he could not die.
2. you would probaly get a lot of angry fans because everyone likes the cole train.
and well that where kinda all the reasons.

baird well i never thougt he was going to die. don't know why but he could just not die.

anya well she could not die, she is been your intel giver from gow 1 so...

sam i like her char but i for sure thought she was going to die. going all out defending her team and then die by a big locust or lambent. and that baird would show his true emotions about her.

carmine he had to die. but after the sniper and the explosion in act 1 i knew he would survived so i was not at all shocked that he made it out of that chopper.

jace i have not read the books but what i know is that he is main char in their. so no he could not die as well.

and for the rest of the chars i did not realy cared.

hofman had a small role.
same goes for bernie.
dizzy could not die because then they just had to kill him in part 2. and not bring him back in 3.
and prescott is a char i don't care about. so yeah good riddens.
and that nickelson or michaelson i don't know because i did not read the books.
