The Almighty Chainsaw

Hello everyone!


I was playing some Multiplayer and couldn't help but notice that when you shoot someone while they are chainsawing, They don't jump back like they did in Gears 2. I found this to be quite a pain sometimes. I hope I'm not the only one having this problem. I think that the little stumble needs to come back. It really helped keep those chainsaw noobs at bay.

The chainsaw flinch made the lancer useless in gears 2, it's perfect the way it is.

You know, I haven't had a single problem with the chainsaw yet. I'm not sure if it's the playlists Im playing in, but my feelings towards it at the moment are fine. Its the DBS that annoys me.

You can still stun chainsawers, but you can only do it when they first start revving it. Once they have the chainsaw running the only way to stop them is to down/kill them.

I agree with F.I.L.O., the chainsaw is fine. In previous games it was sorely underpowered.

The chainsaw is great the way it is. You had to be some kind of Zen master to actually get repeated chainsaw kills. Now you can do it, and it's not like people are unstoppable with their saws out, some good AR fire will take them out right quick.

It's better this way, more players running around with their chainsaws equals more kills for me ^_^

I think it's fine the way it is. One square shot with your Gnasher, and you won't ever need a stun.

The chainsaw stun was very buggy as well, I almost always got stunned back about 3 or 4 times.

Plus you have to fire it up now, rather than insta-revving the black hole like in Gears 2.

Players have to fire it up, Bots just cough near you with it and you are left in pieces on the floor ;)

I like the chainsw where it is. Mind you, I love the chainsaw so I could be speaking from bias. It's basically an undermount Sawed Off that is a one hit kill but requires an animation to complete that leaves you vulnerable. Plus, to balance the lack of recoil of the chainsaw, you have to rev it up.

It's more fun to use now. It isnt practical to use it in all situations cuz it leaves you defenseless for upcoming foes. But heck sometimes you just want to saw someone in pieces. Good fun all in all.
