thank you! Not fair for us, even rank doesnt mean much, other that time spent playing, but its nice to get a fair start.

Didn't Joe say this wasn't going to happen? My 2 cents: I don't care if they get reset or not.
Edit: I mean on release day, it would suck if I played with my mates and got a decent score on Horde and had it wiped because we all live in Au/NZ

They probably will reset the lead board after they look at all the names of the people who played too early and ban them.

They can't wipe the levels of people who have played already, but they can reset the leaderboards on release day.
Most of the people playing already are on retail copies - not leaked copies. They just got it through less-than-legit means for the most part. Since they are on retail copies of the game, no-one is going to get banned.

Wow. I hope you're trolling. You CANNOT be banned for playing a retail copy of a game early. CANNOT BE BANNED. WILL NOT BE BANNED. Get it? I'm not even playing early, but i'm getting sick of all the people who think they know what they're talking about and give others false information, whether it's intentional or not. It's the store's fault for breaking street date, not the consumer.
Are you an idiot?
Epic: "Let's hand the game out to everyone early and then ban them! Eff you Ice T!"
He said LEAKED version.

Exactly. People will only get banned if they post spoilers online.
Just to clarify when I mean reset, i meant their leaderboards score, not their level.

It won't change the fact that people are level 30+ (as you could tell from the MLG video earlier today) whilst we join on September 20th and start at level 1. But anywho, I'm jumping into multiplayer first thing and trying to get as high rank as possible.

it might look like it to you because obviously you are retarded.
i wrote "LEAKED" version.. now i think its pretty easy to recognize stats/savegames or anything that could be left on the disk after playing the leaked version for 2 months
next time read twice or even 5 times before you post some dumb **** boyo

I find it pretty annoying but whatever. There isnt anything I can do, I'm sure it won't take too long to catch up and if I was one of the lucky people who were already playing then I wouldn't want my rank resetting so whatever, its gonna be awesome :D

i could care less about the leaderboards. they usually are hacked anyways at some point with stat boosters.
the levels are pretty unfair but whatever, doesn't really mean anything in the end.

That's like saying "Just because I got the legit copy of the Iphone 4 2 weeks before they actually released it, they're not going to take it away and sue me." Um, yea they are. It's illegal to have ANYTHING before the legal release date. There's a reason why they have release dates: you know, so you know the day where you can legally play the game without getting banned.

I just hope EPIC will keep up with the leaderboards on GOW3. GOW2 leaderboards are so far gone its just ridiculous... and they never fixed em just sayin.

Respect to Epic if they reset. although rank don't really matter the people who got gears 3 early already have an advantage over others being able to play much earlier than others, so the least epic could do it reset.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. It's just a number. Why care? They will find out where the weapons are and such, but that only takes a game or two. Most here likely played the beta so you're ahead of a great number of others. It evens out. Just play and have fun. Just a number.

They can't legally do anything to the consumer even if they happened to acquire their product before the release date. That is, if they acquired it through legitimate means (i.e paying for it), stealing it is obviously another matter entirely. The fault lies with the company/retailer that sold it to them, they would be the ones to be prosecuted for breaking the street date.

Your not supposed to have the game any way even if you have paid for it. Don't you get it? There is a reason why they send you a box without the disc in it: you don't own it yet! You have put in money and will expect to receive when the LEGAL release date comes. Until then they still have legal have possession over the game. You cannot play it until they legally release it. If Rod's tweet said that people who obtained the game illegally would be banned, then it would make sense. But he said people who play EARLY. If you are playing early, you will be banned.

Dude I hate to break it to you...but YOUR THE ONE who "don't get it"
Having a legit retail copy early isn't against the law and it doesn't break microsoft TOS ... Noone will be banned. I've had tons of early legit exclusives.
Rod never said if you are playing early you will be banned...he just said the leaderboards will be reset. Big difference.

im all for a leaderboard reset definatally makes it fair to those who have waited patiently, but i also feel for you guys in the US as no matter what, people around the world get it earlier than you due to timezones , me i live in australia and we get it roughly 17hrs before you guys .

Tell that to the people who got banned playing Halo: Reach early. They still have not unbanned them.
People banned for playing Reach early were banned for illegally downloading the reviewer copy off of the marketplace. People who went to the store and bought the game before the release date were not banned. There are tons of people out their that shows their first day played as the 13th or earlier. If you buy a legit retail copy of a game from a legitimate retailer you will not, and cannot be banned.

I bet most people complaining wan t to try and be ranked first and stuff but in reality, there are at least 100 people better than you(1000 for me since I got a year off gears 2) and 100 better than each of them. To be honest, if you want the top of the leaderboards, lose your life and enjoy the comfort of your couch. Just play the game and enjoy it.

Leaderboard reset isn't the same as a RANK reset. Rod already mentioned this in the Q & A yesterday.
