Tips on how to kill RAAM

I know this is the wrong place but does has anyone got any tips on how to kill RAAM I've tried for 30 minutes now.

(I have only just got gears of war 1 avian because the one I had broke a couple of years ago)

Don't pick up Dom. Frags, lancer/sniper/torque (some say torque works best), stay in the light.

Torque IS best because it is explosive which drives the kryll away. When you run out of torque, switch to snipe and throw grenades first to get kryll away, unload two shots into his head and repeat. You will need to run past him when he gets close, making sure to stay in the light (this is the hard part, you'll either make it or you won't). Basically, just keep this up and run past him when he gets close, to do it from the other side.

This is much easier in co-op because you can have one guy with grenades while the other snipes. But you must get rid of those kryll before you can hurt him! Hope this helps :)

You'll be wanting the torque and longshot. First torque to drive away the kryll, then quickly switch to the longshot and headshot him. When he starts sending the kryll your way, headshot torque him.

I could never use that troika :S the kryll always got me but then I haven't played it in years... maybe I should play the campaign again ready for gears 3 :D

i used torque and longshot on insane. and wtf i didnt know there was a troika you could use lol

Torque --> Troika takes less then three minutes on insane.

Torque when he is somewhat close, switch to grenades run up to him grenade tag and haul cookies to cover and enjoy the cut scene.

This method works for everything, even insane:

Collect FULL ammo for frags, Snipe, Boltok, and Torque. Start with Torque. When you exit the door take cover on the first short wall (left side gives better angles). STAY HERE AT ALL TIMES! Wait for about 10 seconds for RAAM to come into view. Shoot him with the TB to scatter the Kryll. Switch to sniper. Aim for the head and unload as many shots as you can (perfect actives are important here). When the Kryll come back, rinse and repeat until dead. Use Boltok if Snipe runs out. Use frags if Raam gets too close, and run for the opposite side of the train cart to repeat the TB/snipe combo. NEVER leave yourself exposed too long and avoid the dark spots.

That should do it.

If you have a Torque Bow with full ammo just go into cover straight away and Torque him nonstop, hitting every perfect active, trying to get some headshots if you can, and he'll die fast. This includes insane mode. Very easy.

He gets stuck on the first piece of cover on your right, after going up the ladder. Just stay behind that and blind-fire until dead.

RAAM took me forever to beat, because I wasn't used to playing Gears 1 anymore, and the fact I did it hundreds of times because the save file was corrupted...

I finally took the easy and smart way out to recover my profile, and did the cover glitch or what ever and just gnashered him to death on Insane...

Torque him, 2 headshots with Longshot. Rinse and repeat or just run to the troika in the back and just kill him in like 5 seconds...

What I did to get the achievement;

Pick up the Torque, pick up the sniper, then pick up the ammo.

Walk into the battle, take cover.

When the kryll cover RAAM, shoot him with the torque bow, immediatly swap to the sniper and do a headshot (or 2 if you can manage it).

If RAAM gets too close, throw a frag and make a run for the other side and repeat.


Plus when Don is down, don't bother picking him up, it's suicide.

I actually beat him using Torque + Lancer. Torque him to get the kryll off, then constant headshots with the Lancer until the kryll return.

If theres 2 of you than both just Torque the s**t out of him, takes less than 2 mins.

Yh just torque bow him and snipe in face a couple times.
Repeat.

I used the Torque and then immediately switched to the sniper to get some headshots. Got A Dish Best Served Cold on first try.

Thanks for the tips and plus I beat him aswell using most of your tips (Tourque and sniper combo. Tried going for troika, but didn't work lol.
