GoW -- PC Version?

This is NOT any attempt to start a flamewar between console and PC fanboys. Just a simple question.

About a year ago, J Allard was interviewed by Eurogamer where he said that there was going to be a PC version of Gears of War along with the 360 version:


J Allard: It's probably about fifty-fifty between sequels that people love and new IP that they'll be trying out that we've not talked about so far. Gears Of War is new IP as well.

Eurogamer: But is that exclusive to Xbox?

J Allard: It's Xbox and PC.

But as far as I know, this has never been directly confirmed or denied by anyone at Epic. Does anyone have an up-to-date answer?

Well truth be told I was going to petition Nasa for some room-sized supercomputer so I could play this game with a mouse but I figured a 360 was more in line with my budget ;)

They said there focusing on the xbox 360 build with a PC port later as a possibilty! My PC gamer friends sure were happy!:)

I am happy they are doin it for 360 first then pc. Concepts can real get twisted between the 2 ( meaning console and pc).

Agreed!:D Their announced titles arent even good (all that are, are on the 360 also) I just beg that EPIC puts UT2K7 on 360! They will get so many more people playing that way!

I'm pretty sure you'll see a PC version within 1-2 years of the 360 release. This title will clearly sell on the PC, but don't hold your breath for a quick release because Microsoft will have a set timeframe they want before a PC release.

Anyways, Microsoft has released Halo and soon Halo 2, so Gears wouldn't be a big surprise but may be up to Epic themselves.

GoW is an XBox 360 exclusive. It's being made specifically for the XBox. I'm sure if it was even considered for the PC, they would have to redo a bunch of stuff anyway.

not true apathy. porting games from microsoft xbox 360 and pc using microsoft OS system is relativly easy. it's matter of months really. so i wouldn't put a scare into the pcer's in the forum.

Heh. I wasn't trying to put a "scare" into anyone. I just don't see it ever getting to PC. I also don't see other games being made by Epic right now jumping from the PC, and PS3, to the Xbox 360.

You dont see alot of things... :) Just kidding. They have talked about a PC version. Which Sebaz is right its mainly a madder of changing the controls a bit. Oh yeah and with your last comment. as i said in the other PC discussion, i'm having a hard time thinking of a good control layout for mouse/ keyboard control. i don't really play games on PC, i'm a console gamer through and through, but i like to play CS:Source once in a while on my roommates comp. and so i know how M/K, controls work, but with gears, i'm having a hard time imagineing a good control layout, what with how they have to hold down a button to fire when in cover. holding the right button would kinda be annoying to me, but i guess someone who plays on a mouse and keyboard all the time would be more accustomed to the feeling...

The moving from cover to cover will feal more smooth and human on the Xbox 360! IMO

There wont be a Gears of War PC. Exclusive = only Xbox 360.

not really, it's a microsoft published game, so exclusive to microsoft doesn't neccesarily mean exclusive to the xbox. it COULD come to pc, but that doesn't mean it WILL....

we'll have to wait and see....

M$ will only want it on the 360. i really only got 360 to play gears and ghost 3
but i,m very happy with the con.Got high end pc too and enjoy many hours of gaming on it waiting on ut2007 booya shock whore i am :)

yeah dude gears of war has been confirmed for the pc. in fact its already out. IN FACT you can download it. i dont mean pirate it, i mean you can actually pay for it, and then just download it online. as for gears of war 2 i am assuming its coming out for pc as well. we dont have a date on that though. im betting gears of war 2 will come out for the pc and i wont be surprised.
