Horde 2.0 Helpful Tips and Information to Know:

Helpful Tips:
1. Always stay behind cover to not receive much damage.
2. Use communication when in a party to tell others if a threat is near by.
3. Check your ammo, make sure you have enough ammo before the next waves starts.
4. Don't activate a Command Center until the boss wave unless desperately needed.
5. Focus on building barriers first before building anything else.
6. Buy the least amount of fortifications needed and try to save up money till wave 11.
7. Don't try to maintain two or more bases. Stick to one base.
8. Don't buy many fortifications in preparation for the boss waves. Most of the time those fortifications will get destroyed quickly and will be a waste of money.
9. Buy turrets for boss waves. Turrets will help as extra ammo and heavy damage against bosses.
10. On boss waves, space yourself from your teammates but not too far. Bosses can deal out a lot of damage in an area and you wouldn't want your team to go down in one hit because everyone's tightly close to each other.
11. On a boss wave, look for the boss straight away and spot it. This will alert your teammates and give your team time to prepare for what might happen.
12. Gunkers and Lambent Zerkers, upon death, explode. The blast radius is great and therefore you should stay in a safe distance behind cover.
13. If you run out of ammo check with your teammates if they have any spare ammo to give you.

Horde 2.0 Information to Know:
1. Players start out with $1,000 cash.
2. Players receive $250 as a bonus for completing each wave.
3. Purchase a Command Post to start a base.
4. After every wave one has 30 seconds to buy and upgrade fortifications.
5. The points one earns in the game is the same amount of money you obtain.
6. Fortification Icon turns "Red" when one doesn't have enough money to afford or repair the fortification.
7. Fortification Icon turns "Green" when one does have enough money to afford the fortification.
8. Fortification Icon turns "Yellow" when one does have enough money to repair the fortification.
9. Once a Kantus dies it explodes in a cloud of ink. This ink can harm you.
10. Ammo for man-able turrets can be bought back in the 30 second time period at the beginning of each wave.

now we just need to know how much $ is an ennemy worth.

if we get like 10$ per kill, i wont buy that silverback but if we get 100$ per kill, i might consider it.

you get the same money as your do points

the barriers slow them down a lot and also do damage to them as they try to cross.

Fixed and thanks. I couldn't think of the word Decoys during the time making this. :)

Barriers: I looked at a large selection of horde videos and there were different prices for some of the barriers that were exactly the same. I noticed that the smaller barriers were relatively cheaper than the larger barriers. I noticed small and large barriers but I also seen a price for a barrier that was different and so I expect it to be a medium sized barrier.

I don't know specifically but you need to spread your levelling up around, I believe. Put it into decoys and barriers etc. and once you level those up I think it allows you to do that. Wish I knew exactly what to do because I am facing the same problem. I barely play Horde though so that has something to do with it.

I'm writing out a few things to update, mostly Medal requirements. Will edit this post with it all.

Here we go :)

Level 2 Silverback - Spend $200,000 on Silverbacks
Level 2 Silverback gives 33% discount on Silverback repairs
Level 6 Turret - Spend $200,000 on Turrets
Level 5 Decoy - Spend $75,000 on Decoys
Level 5 Sentry - Spend $90,000 on Sentries

Killing Flame Grenadier = $245-$305 (shooting the gas tank adds 70 down points, hence $305)
If a Drudge doesn't mutate before dying, only gives $280 instead of $420
Armored Kantus = $700
Berzerker = $1,200
Brumak = $2,800 (I think?)
Lambent Berzerker = $2,400

Gunker wave contains 4, Brumak wave can (but doesn't always) contain 2

Wave 11-20 = 2x Enemy Health, 21-30 = 2x Enemy Health + Accuracy, 31-40 = 2x Enemy Health, Accuracy + Damage, Wave 41-50 = 2.5x Enemy Health, Accuracy + Damage.

Active Horder (Horder 2) - Complete 500 waves of Horde

Squad Leader (Squad Leader 2) - Earn Point Man ribbon 150 times

Combat Engineer (Field Engineer 3) - Complete 500 fortification modifications
Fortification Master (Field Engineer 4) - Complete 1,000 fortification modifications

Makin' It Rain (Big Money 2) Earn $500,000 cash in Horde
Soldier of Fortune - Earn $1,000,000 cash in Horde
I'm Rich, *****! - Earn $5,000,000 cash in Horde

Uncommon Looter (Loot Courtesan 2) - Complete 25 Horde challenges
Rare Looter - Complete 50 Horde Challenges

Cursed Rider
09-26-2011, 09:05 AM

Anyone know why ammo boxes sometimes cost $500 and at other times, $1000? Is it based on whether you pick it up during a wave or during the 30 seconds 'interval'?

I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I've seen it for $500 and also $1,000 during the 30 second interval.

Although it might depend on how much ammo you have or how much ammo your team has. Just an idea.

Lvl 1 - default
Lvl 2 - repair 11% less
Lvl 3 - rockets

I love the new DLC pack, it just makes me sad to see that small little issues like the Savage Theron haven't been cleared up. =/ That kind of leeches from the experience of horde/campaign, in my opinion.

I'm sure it's quite realistically because of the Title Update conundrum, but sadness.

Great thread with a complete breakdown of each aspect but one of the key things I would like to add here is the proportion of the money spent in purchases / repairs / upgrades to leveling up fortifications to the next level based on difficulty.

Casual - 60% of money spent contributes to level up cost
Normal - 80% of money spent contributes to level up cost
Hardcore - 100% of money spent contributes to level up cost
Insane - 120% of money spent contributes to level up cost

In addition to the above, the use of easy/hard mutators will increase/decrease the overall factor. So playing on casual with 3 easy mutators is pretty much worthless... this will help avoid frustration that the level up bar is barely moving.

Hope this helps..

Thread has been updated a bit. :)

Looking good here mate, you might want to add details regarding the different hardness levels of Horde and how it affects the amount you spend on fortifications.
IE if you spend $1,000 how much of that registers in the stats as money spent on that fortification towards upgrading it.
So on Casual out of $1,000 spent only $600 registers. If you add say the super reload this takes 25% off of that $600 amounting to only $450 spent!!
On Normal out of $1,000 spent only $800 registers.
On Hardcore it is dollar for dollar.
On Insane I believe for every $1,000 spent you get $1,100 registered but I need to confirm that.

Just thought this is pretty helpful info for those upgrading there fortifications.

No, you should be able to unlock it at any wave as long as you have enough cash for it. Now if your going for the last upgrade for the sentry then your going to have to buy the first DLC to unlock it along with a few other upgrades.

If you do have the map pack then I don't know what else would help solve that problem.

i have the DLC, but that's not the problem..

yesterday, me and my friend went online because he wanted to show me the upgraded turret (last level unlocked), so we went in, we didn't do any kind of fortification till we reached wave 9, then i gave him all the cash i have... he was able to build the turret, and do 1 upgrade only. then it said upgrade locked.

i was thinking "maybe we should reach certain waves to be able to unlock the next upgrade?" or maybe we should have other items built that will allow him to upgrade the turret from level 2 to 3?

i'm not sure what's going on, but it's not really obvious.

You forgot the Hammer Time achievement under strictly horde achievement list.

And also, what's you favorite set of weapons when your playing horde?

Thanks I'll add the achievement, kinda missed that one.

I always use the Lancer and the Gnasher but I'll sometimes use the Retro Lancer instead of the regular Lancer. I never use the Hammerburst or the Sawed-off just because I always run out of ammo with them. If your going to use the Retro Lancer then I suggest you burst fire when shooting enemies at far range and at close range just shoot without burst fire. Its a powerful weapon but you might run out of ammo unless you are highly accurate and barely ever waste bullets.

In regards to having to kill the brumak and getting 2,800 points i dont know what difficulty it was on when you made that discovery but i killed one,by myself on casual, on overpass and i got 28,000... was it a glitch or what?

I'd just like to point out that whatever random number generator Epic used to determine when a given boss type would show up needs some tweaking.

First case in point: in nine consecutive boss waves spread across two different maps, we had Berserkers four times, Lambent Zerkers four times, and another boss type exactly once.
Second case in point: the bosses on a Bullet Marsh run (on Insane difficulty) were as follows: Wave 10, Corpsers; Wave 20, Corpsers; Wave 30, Corpsers. (We died on 30.)

I have to wonder what the point is of having six different boss types when you are playing a Horde match you wind up with the same boss type over and over and over again...

Your probably right. Not a glitch I don't think. I got 2,800 points idea from someone else. I'll fix the thread in a little bit. I've never faced a Brumak by myself because it never shows up unless I have like five people on my team.

I have heard this and seeing as how you thread has so much info about horde 2.0 I will ask it here.:)

Is it true that depending on your difficulty/mutators the amount of money you spend on a fortification to buy it changes how much towards the level you get?

i.e. (if it is true then I apologize for my numbers being off)
I buy a small barrier for 500 on Casual, with 3 "Easy" mutators on that counts for lets say 400 towards leveling up my barriers, but if I am playing on insane and buy the barrier for 500 with 3 "Hard" mutators on it counts for lets say 700 towards the barrier level? Do you get what I am asking? Sorry if it is unclear.:o

Ok here they are:

Bonus Objectives
1. Execute 8 enemies
2. Chainsaw/ Retro Charge 6 enemies
3. Kill 2 Flame Grenadiers/Boomers with their fuel tank
4. Complete the wave in 1:45/2:30 (Might be different times, but these are some that I got)
5. Headshot 8 enemies
6. Kill 10 enemies with a manned turret (It seems like it counts only boomers, any type of drone, and drudges)
7. Kill 10 enemies in 30 seconds
8. Complete the wave without any deaths

Supply Drops
1. Ammo/Grenade Refill + 2 small ammo pickups (sometimes spawns a wild ticker with ammo inside of it)
2. Precision Weapons (Torque Bow + Longshot)
3. Boomshots ( About 5x I think)
4. Heavy Weapons ( 2x Mulcher and 1x Boomshield)
5. Lancer, Retro Lancer, and One-Shot
6. 1x Vulcan Cannon

I haven't checked the whole thread, but I think some of these tips should be added:

- Avoid buying ammo at the end of a wave (unless needed).

- Buying ammo as soon as a high wave starts (30; 36-40; 45-50) is a good way to prevent running out of ammo.

- Save your One Shots/Vulcans for wave bosses, or for "troubled times". Each teammate can save one heavy weapon: try to keep as many as you can.

- Vulcan doesn't need two people to use it. Sometimes is wiser to let just one people use it. And only one people is needed to "save" it during fortification time before a wave.

- Spot that enemy that you cannot kill properly or is running toward your teammate; spot tickers as soon as you see them. May save your allies.

- Chainsawing a Savage Corpser will make it stay a few seconds more, allowing your teammates to shoot. Remember to try it when the Corpser is screaming before going underground.

Sorry I really wasn't clear that was a dig at epic for not doing anything to make the Onyx Guard Decoy any better through updates like making him cost less, survive longer or stay near the player or base instead of running off getting killed even though there have been loads of threads asking for it.
I figured because they put it on facebook they might see the post it wasn't to do with your list (which is awesome so good job on that)!

Sorry for the confusion.

Oh ya, well I'm with you on that. I never buy the decoy anymore because of that. One time I saved up 30,000 and bought 3 Onyx Guards and guess what happened? They all survived one wave and died by one Boomer.

Ive got a Level 6 Turret, about halfway progressed, and I can already upgrade to the Troika. I saw where the guide had Troika at level 7. Am I just reading it wrong, or did something change with one of the title updates?

Either way, Prima should publish this guide. its freaking unreal. no pun intended...

At level 5 for turrets you unlock the Troika with no shield plate on it and at level 7 for turrets you unlock the Troika with the shield plate on it. :D

Horde only goes to wave 50 although people mod and sometimes it glitches. Mostly mods I believe.

A quick question about beserkers: You know how the berserkers have some fleshier crevices on their back? Are those spots vulnerable to bullets?

I don't think so. Never really tried it since I'm usually the one running away from it while its charging me. :D
I think its only weakness is the Scorcher or the flame grenades. The fire makes the beserker's flesh soft and then the bullets are able to penetrate through it's skin.

The xp amounts are going to be hard to figure.
I know the amounts per wave from each difficulty but working out the consecutive is what's going to cut it.

If I look on my stats & Awards for horde I have zero for all my To Next stats, so I'm topped out by the looks of things ?

Crate 2: 2x Mulcher, 1x Boom Shield
Crate 3: 5x Boomshot
Crate 4: 1x Longshot, 1x Torque Bow

Crate 6: 2x Ammo Clip, and Ammo Replenishes For the Whole Team

Do they actually come in this order or expected order? I like the boomshots the best and normally get mullered trying to use the Vulcan. I often don't get the crates playing solo, expt the turret ones. I have enough on my plate trying to survive.

Also this:

9. Once a Kantus dies it explodes in a cloud of ink. This ink can harm you. If you instagib one, no ink is released.

The crates come randomly I think. The order I put them in is just when I found them(1. is the first crate I found and took note of and 6. is the last one I found). There really in no particular order.
