The only thing not fixed is resolution.
If you try playing with a 16:10 resolution like 1680x1050 the game will not fully utilize your CPU and GPU.

I hope they fix that because I hate playing in window mode.

I did notice that when using this fix the shadow quality is set to low in the game menu and switching it to high seems to have done nothing.

Not sure if shadow quality is really forced on low though.

ok 1st of all this file which was uploaded by ButterDick from another forum. it solved my problem and u can try this if this solves urs too...the file got deleted by this uploader and im uploading mine, give it a try...undo any changes if u have made in ur baseEngine.ini

Nope the problems are still the same even with your file.
The textures are slightly better but not as good as they are supposed to be and all the other graphical errors remain.

Nope I just reinstalled the game before all of this so everything is normal.

With your file the textures are slightly sharper but no where near as good as my tweaked setting previously.

The 16 bit color binding and shadow lines are still in the game and the post processing effects are not working either like sun rays.

The game only works with full settings with the tweak I mentioned in my first post.
But even with my tweak there is still one graphical error and a memory leak that freezes the game eventually.

How do I change these settings? I found the Config folder for bulletstorm, but I have not been able to find the "bUseMaxQualityMode" file/setting. Could you please specify if this is a file, and if it is could you post the file address.

It is located under your installed folder in the program files.

Just go to the engine folder and look for the baseengine.ini file in the config folder.

It is in there.

What I did to find it was go into C:\Program Files\EA\Bulletstorm\Engine\Config\baseengine.ini

If it's not there then I am not sure what to say.
It shouldn't make a difference if you downloaded it or have the retail version.

Hmm there is no gibberish with my file.
Your file may be encrypted which means you may need to reinstall the game and make sure it doesn't update itself.

I heard updating may cause the game to encrypt those files.

The only other way I know of (if you have an nvidia GPU) is use the nvidia control panel or nvidia inspector program to turn "texture quality" to high quality instead of the default which is "quality"

It didn't appear to change anything. What I"m mostly looking for is improvement in graphics. Some of the character outfits and gun textures seem to be too blurry on the highest settings (as in colors blurred together, like I can see the different colors on a sniper rifle, but they just blur together instead of having outlines to separate each color; I hope that you understand what I'm talking about).

I'm having an issue where some emitters are showign up pitch black. Not sure if it might actually be an intended effect, but I'm guessing not. Also, the sky always goes pitch black when I use the whip special function where you hold Q down, and everyone goes flying through the air.

I found the fix but you left something out which was the reason it didn't work at first.

Back up DefaultCompat.ini from your Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\ folder, and then replace the original with the file from the link below. Then delete StormCompat.ini and StormEngine.ini from Documents\My Games\BulletStorm\StormGame\Config\ and run the game. That should be it.

Looks like Ambient Occlusion. I also get the black bars when turning the shadows above Low, but restarting the game seems to mostly fix it.

So I tried out the Butterdick way and it worked...except when it comes to shadows (or specifically from character models):

I've read that, as of right now, there's nothing to fix this but is that true? Because I'm only just a tiny bit closer to actually getting pass Explosion town without being distracted by such shadows.

But listen to this. That happens on my hd 6970 graphics card, but when I put the HD 4870 - no problem. So then I tried HD 6850 also, which uses the same driver as hd 6970 - no problem.
Then I thought that my graphics card is corrupt, but now I see that you have the same problem. Probably not my graphics card.
I'm interested wich graphics card do you have?
Maybe we discover the problem.
