Hello,
Basically i'm being faced with a pretty annoying problem. First of all i'll paste here a couple of multi-res tests i did that show a pretty weird behaviour of the game on my rig :
1280 x 800 - 60 fps 8x aa 8x supersampling transparency
1280 x 900 - 40 fps 8x aa 8x supersampling transparency (20 fps drop for 100 pixels)
1280 x 1024 - 30 fps 8x aa 8x supersampling transparency (30 fps drop)
1360 x 768 - 60 fps 8x aa 8x supersampling transparency (back to 60 smooth)
1366 x 768 - 40 fps 8x aa 8x supersampling transparency ( WTF? 6 more pixels and 20 fps less?) I don't even know why this resolution is ingame.
1680 x 1050 - 30 fps 4x aa no supersampling (can't even run 8x aa properly, vram gets flooded jumping from 980 back to 200 etc, it stutters like hell so gotta drop to 4x)
As you can see in those tests, the game seems to be pretty random and unstable performance-wise and some of those resolutions and major fps drops make no sense whatsoever.
My rig :
gigabyte ep35-ds3r
e8400 c2d @3 ghz
4gb ddr2 (800mhz)
msi gtx 560 ti
Chieftec Smart GPS-450AA-101A 450W (i know the gtx 560 recommends a 500 w psu, however i don't have any oc'd components nor multiple hdds. i also mention there are no performance issues in any other games no matter how demanding (see metro 2033 etc) bench results being on par with i7s etc)
--- no overclocking done on any components ---
win7 ultimate 64bit
whql 266.66 drivers
About temps :
cpu full load 55 degrees
gpu full load 60 degrees
So now to the problem. The game performance seems pretty low for my system specs. With everything on high and 4x aa 1680x1050 i'm only getting 25-30 fps. 8x aa at that res will result in extreme stutters from 2 fps to 20 fps and the gpu memory usage going from 300 to 900 back to 200 (also gpu load tends to be in the 50-60s % range with any of the aa settings).
I see people with 6950s running the game smoothly at 1920x1080 (is it? anyway the 1080 res might be wrong since i cant check right now). They're running it with 60 fps constant 8x aa all on high and 1080 p. Yet my system can barely get 30 fps with even lower AA? Something is wrong.
I'd like to mention i don't really have any issues in any other games, have benchmarked my system as well after i bought the 560 and all results were up to par with the usual benchies from different sites.
Also, when i tried lowering the res even to 1280x800 or 1360 x 768 or something, the game was 60 fps smooth even with 8x aa supersampling (transparency) forced + 8x aa ingame - (also gpu load was at 90-100 in these res). As soon as i went to 1680x1050 bam ... 30 fps tops + 50% gpu usage.
I even disabled vsync to check if it was limited somehow. Wasn't the case. So any ideas? Should i wait for a new nvidia driver? New patch for the game?
Any input would be appreciated.
