Project Warzone: ALPHA 2 IS UP!

Current Version: Alpha 2

An alpha of Project Warzone is available to download. To download PW, download my Mod Downloader program here:

Mod Downloader Instructions:
1. Once downloaded, place the .EXE in your "My Games" directory (not in Gears of War for Windows just My Games)
2. Run the program
3. Go on the Project Warzone tab
4. Click 'Download Pack File', wait for download progress to be 100% ( a notification bubble will pop up saying so) then click 'Download Standard Maps'
5. In your My Games directory you should find two files, 'WarzonePACKFILE' and 'WarzoneStandardMaps'. Run these files and they will install to the correct directory.
6. Run gears.
7. Open the Dev Console and type "Open WZ_Warmachine"
8. Get testing!

those files are hosted on the same thing as the original link was hosted on. What is your broadband? What security software do you have? Any internet filters or anything? What country do you live in?

The hosting thing I use is blocked in china so do you live in Asia somewhere?

I find it alot easier doing it from the convenience of my desktop rather than having to go sign up to moddb eg.

BTW Moddb uses filefront which DOES delete after a certain amount of time. Darksin seems to be the only one having a problem with it?

It was an old directory I made from previous extracting hierarchical layout. It's not used :)

The standard maps file is 55,017kb and the pack file is 14,167kb. On next release, better compression will be used to keep the size down. Is it downloading ok this time? BTW click then ONE at a time, dont download both at same time

and for the long download time, you must have poor connection, I download 65mb in just over a minute however I will make a better compressed installer

btw gameplay is aimed to be less serious than lance2. Think of it as it's slapstick cousin. Gameplay is different...

Go up to the box and press E on the button. There is a bug where it doesnt say the box is unlocked at bottom right of screen but it plays the sound. As of now you can only restart the map to reset round, Since this is alpha version I never included main screen or anything.

I will work on optimisation. Does your slow down happen when their is alot of corpses? Pentium e5500 should run perfect :)

Lance is aimed at more serious gameplay whilst gameplay on Warzone is more slapstick, doesn't take itsself seriously(mystery box eg). Gameplay is still being developed (more stuff will be added)

There is no life limit on Project Warzone unlike lance. As far as I remember Lance was 6v6 max, Project Warzone is 7v7. On Project Warzone it is not spawn sides, you spawn at any random spot of the map and this is where the minimap comes into use because you really have to watch your back as you get shot at from everywhere :)

Project Warzone is a bloodbath, I assure you that!

Play both lance and Project Warzone happily :)
Lance was originally my inspiration to start a mod on Gears of War back at the start of January 2010

Instead of releasing a whole new mod with a few updates, the mod will evolve.

I'll tell you more when I get home and post a gameplay video.

Alpha 2 is now up for download! Open up the Mod Downloader in your My Games folder and go to the project warzone tab and download the pack file and standard map pack one at a time.

One notable bug is when on locust team, there is a duplicate Cole at the start of the match.

Yes, I set to default, signed out of live, tried opening with the console, and it crashes.
