Its won't need gold account, they removed that pretty soon after introducing it.

It is using Games for windows live, so you will need a GFWL account. Its free.

When GFWL first came out I think it was needed, PC gamers said no they removed it.

yep i still remember when the first halo went to pc there was that stupid account gold/silver system on pc but due to competition where playing games on multiplayer didnt need paying for it(example Steam) they simply turned to todays no P2P system.

Even if windows live cost money there's still Steam and Playstation 3 which are both free. Microsoft just wants to make a few extra bucks (every single month) from you and since a lot of people are willing to pay for it, they can get away with it on the Xbox. My subscription just expired and I'm not renewing it anymore.. not when I can play the same games for 100% free on my PC and Playstation 3. Especially when the servers on Live are player hosted, what exactly are we paying for?
