View Full Version : First creation, font problem?!
Hey,
I'm trying to make a simple .fla effect, following this "tutorial" here http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/Scaleform.html, but I'm having a render/font problem. I think...

How can i fix this?

You likely need to embed your fonts into the flash file. You could also try disabling bold, italics, or any other font styles on those elements and see if that fixes your problem.
I will be making a font embedding tutorial video soon to help out with these types of issues.
Until then, you can use the simplest approach - select one of the text fields, then press the Character Embedding button (in CS4 it is under the Character rollout on the properties panel). Then select the characters to embed for that font. A good selection would be something like Uppercase, Lowercase, Numerals, and Punctuation.
Now, if you have different versions of that font (normal, bold, italic, etc.) you must embed for each version. But if you just use one version (say normal) then you only need to embed for that version of the font. And you only need to set embedding on one text field. That is - one text field for each version (normal, bold, etc.)
Publish the file. And be sure to reimport your SWF into UDK.
lol I was writing to say i figure it out.. but thanks anyway. I picked all type of characters but I guess really I don't need them all.
I'm going to try to get this showing in-game now...
Thanks again.
BTW, I figured you're the one making the scaleform video tutorials , so if you're also the one who usually checks the support email, ignore the mail I sent you :P

Cant wait for the font tutorial. I have been trying to use shared fonts in the same way the UDK Menu does but its not working for me. The console reminders are annoying me now lol
