So every night me and a few friends play for a couple hrs and we are all ranked between 98 to 89. and it seems like our lone player is always a rank 1 or very low in rank. And on top of that these players are TRULY new to the game while the other team is rolling with stars and 98's. What is wrong with how it matches random players to each team.

Get a fifth player then your sorted..

But it does happen ocassionally

It happens to me too. The game has a problem matching me with decent players.

Get a fifth player then your sorted.. we only have 5 guys one night a week and the rest of the time is is just the 4 of us. we have been playing together for 3-4 yrs now so letting in an outsider is not an option.

It probably has something to do with true skill balancing.

speaking of true skill i wonder what most ppl would be now if it was still used like it was. I was a 3 bar when it was removed i think but can't really remember

They don't make the teammates equal skill, they make the teams as a whole equal skill, so if you get bad teammates that means you are good, because they need to give you bad people to bring you down to the other teams level... or at least this is what I tell myself when I get terrible teammates.

not true. the matchmaking in gears is horrible. i play wit stacked teams all the time with kds of over 2.5 and we match up with kids who just started playin this game
