we have had a player coming to our server, he has been using some sort of console command which is keybinded to crash server. he was doing this for about a week or so, i have had alot of players leave because of this sob. but i am generally warning you that it may happen to you and he uses different i.p addresses and guid's. he has been coming to our server under different names too so clanmanager disallow names does'nt work either. most common names he uses are plu2 and plewtwo-oh, if you see anyone with this name kick him and kick him fast. he joins as spectator most of the time. and he is not on webadmin to kick only on game so i suspect some sort of hack running, but i am not sure. if anyone knows of a way to get someones i.p in game without webadmin it will be much apreciated, also anyone know of a range ban mut for his i.p

You don't need a mut for a range ban. It's pointless anyhow, everyone's Ip changes eventually and they'll be back. We've had to ban the same people over andover and over and over at the MXC servers. the only way to truly get rid of these people is to give them NO reaction. I know it feels like you need to act, but ignoring them works best. They want you to be like WTFFFFFFF.

no, he was annoying everyone on server and he does it not to annoy i don't think. i think his doing it for his own fun, because people like that are that sad and pathetic.

Could it be the same guy who was on several other servers, who has been cheating, using admin rights etc? I never met him but I think we had a topic (I think it was called script kiddies in 2k4)... Hm.. strange.

No that guy was doing way more than abusing admin rights. There are clearly some new hax and stuff poping up. We has some server crashing issues at MXC as well a few weeks back. We never banned anyone, we juust started using anit-cheat, and dealt with it.

As far as "ignoring" people. This comes from first hand expeince and it works. If they persisit in crashing or bottign your server...jump offline, go eat a samich, and if eveyone else does the same, they'll be gone when you return in al likelyhood.

It's amazing how well it works. Attention spans are short on UT I find.

I doubt it. We were getting crashed nightly (many times over and over) about 2-3 weeks ago. We are fully patched etc, and we are VERY hard to find in the server lists unless you know exactly where to find us. It's pretty clear to me that there are just new cheats popping up like wildfire.

Add anti tcc to your server...IT WILL STOP THE CRASHES. I say demo servers should buy the full version and ya know, PAY waht $5 for the game you likely have been enjoying for years now.

sly it possibly is, fewposts you don't exactly know the full extent of what has happened. he has also managed somehow to wipe out a ini file with saved player data and he had my guid changed, i was on my clans server as Imposter without changing my guid or i.p even ignoring him did'nt work. but he has stopped for now, that's why i created this warning other admin's. but ignoring him does'nt work, i have seen server empty then as soon as anyone joins about 5 mins later as soon as there about to vote from default map he comes back and crashes it again. believe me, need more than just patience for this guy

I just don't understand those who only play the demo for years. They could have the full game for almost nothing with a lot of gametypes and maps! :/

hmm. That should be fixable with anti-tcc as I said before. There are stranger hacks. We had a dude join last week and he did not show up on the scoreboard! He was telefragging people, and it was DM with Trans disabled. (of course) It also would not display the "kill message" on screen. Like "You Killed Someone." He was also shown as "someone" in death messages. The only was you could tell if you killed him, or vice versa was the death messages.

"someone telefragged you"...literally. This is with anti-tcc enabled and everything. :/

The crashing thing I know can be stopped with anti-tcc, so use it.

ooh, and I find global ID bans to be useless. Best you can do is IP ban. In the end that is only a temporary fix. We banned lots of people who retruned over and over eventually. :/ Just unwanted whiners etc..not hackers per se.

Anti-tcc will stop the crashing, but not the ban evasion per se.

Hmm, then what does the server log say?

UT2004 retail servers are free. It's just that people obviosly don't want to move on from demo servers.

Well, on the bright side, demo servers will now feel that going retail is a good idea :D But I hope that those who start using AntiTCC are installing the latest version and not the one that makes all Win7 clients crash :\

We haven't had any issues, so I guess we're using the new one...lol
