Hey all,
In about an hour I am heading to my local Borders to pick up Jacinto's Remnant.
My question is, is JR the first book in the series of novels excluding Aspho Fields? I dont wanna open up the book and discover something happened then i'll be like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

CE is released on March 1st I believe.
Ya, JR begins right after Gears 2. If you haven't read AF, then you will have no idea who Bernie is, or anything about Dom's brother.

Spoilers:
I know Boomer Lady, just not as much as the next guy.
And I know Carlos was Marcus' best friend and how he died.
I know moderate info on both :)

Yea, the paperbacks are a bit expensive...even if you by them cheaper online, you still have to pay for shipping...but the bookstore in my hometown is kinda lame so I have to order, or drive forty miles to the nearest Barnes & Nobles...with kids,

Nah, Jonesy has them locked up and disciplined. All she does is;
"You feel like lucky punks, well do ya'?"
And then she gives them the glare.

Actually, I'm usually on my own...hubby's gotta work, so guess who gets sole custody,
...the oldest one I can normally handle, but the younger one takes after me (imagine that) and he can be quite a pill...and the CPP frowns upon the use of duct tape for time out, like so:

from my understanding they all moved to Port Ferral. I think Jonesy's Snowblind takes place after Jacinto's Remnant or maybe during. I'm not sure yet.
Also, SPOILERS KIND OF
I find it so terribly sad to be Dom. Not only does he now know his wife is dead, but the HE had to be the one to finish her off. The thing I am getting at is that only Dom and Marcus knew. So now everyone who knows he was looking for her will ask "Hey, did you finally find Maria?" and he has to tell him that he personally ended her life. Like during the Prologue Cole asked him about her and he just out and said "I killed her. I helped her go."
That must suck big time.

--SPOILERS--somewhat...
As tfghost elaborated before, what is left of Jacinto's civilians and military is relocated, temporarily to Port Farral, but the COG will eventually investigate Vectus Island as a prospective, permanent location/starting point, to rebuild humanity.
The way the story goes back and forth between two time frames I found to be hideously annoying, but that's just me.

Me to. I sometimes forget which time frame I'm in.

Really? I never had that problem. Maybe it's because I established two different "head movies" (to use a phrase from the hilariously awesome Tropic Thunder), one of which was distinctly Pendulum Wars and had beautiful landscapes, and the other of which was distinctly Locust Wars and had destroyed, apocalyptic environments (or islands and water).
Never lost track of it. Is it because I'm such a visual person and have to visualize each scene I read as it would look like in a movie?

Both time frames are after E-Day. But yes, in Aspho Fields it was a lot easier.

It wasn't so much "losing track," I just hated it when I'd be reading along, wanting to see what happene next, and then I would get transferred into the other timeline. It severed the pace for me, and then I would have to go back and remember, ok why are they here again, oh wait that's right...but I've always had a peeve about that. It doesn't bother some people.
I should be getting Anvil Gate sometime in the next few days, since they shipped them first thing this morning....
