Just curious to see how many of the community played the first game by PCF (People Can Fly)
I loved Painkiller and still regard it as the best FPS I have ever played.
I hated the sequels and were glad to find out that that PCF did not make them, and that Epic bought PCF. When Bulletstorm was announced I was very very excited. Still am.
If people want to have a taste of the awesome that PCF dish up, then try out Painkiller while waiting for Bulletstorm.

Painkiller was a bit like serious sam, but with it's own style, I don't know if people even tried Serious Sam or Will Rock.
For me basically those games are made for the fun, but I think Bulletstorm is a bit more different. it uses full localized damage and physics to make the skillshots.
Games like soldier of fortune and chasm the rift uses full localized damage to awaken the enemy and allow more strategical hits than the headshots.
I always loved soldier of fortune because the shooting is damn fun and gory, I also loved dark messiah which allowed to use a lot the decorations against my enemies by just using my foot, and the melee in this game is probably the best.
The only difference it's the fact that Bulletstorm sounds to take the best, add some new elements on this
It allows to make specific shots to kill faster and weakened the enemy by using specific shots, but we are also rewarded for them, and this reward allow us to upgrade our equipment

If I may ask, what are the specs for your current PC?

I remember 3 cool things from painkiller.
The boss fights
Combining the slow time + beserker terracard
The asylum level with those things walking on the roof.
Then came the "sequels" and it all went downhill from there.

Back when my brother tried out the demo in 2004 he liked it alot, then went and got the full version a little later. Christmas of that year I got him the expansion. Oddly enough, though I watched him play through it, I never took the chance to try it out. My brother liked Painkiller alot, though, and said that it felt like Quake mixed with Serious Sam. And the level design looked great, which is what I am hoping with Bulletstorm. Since Painkiller is similar in gameplay to Serious Sam, and since I've played the first 2 SS games I think I have a general idea of Bulletstorm's gameplay.

didn't vote but i can tell you this... played, didn't finished, because the game play consists of treasure finding, and repetitive killing... i got tired of it by the second chapter... can't play puts me to sleep... just like doom... your melee weapon is over powering... and i had played "U4E" back in UT99... The weapon "Pain killer" is too similar to "Areal Blast" in U4E making it looked like a part ripped off weapon... so I stopped playing...

Only the first painkiller is great, the rest are all crap...but glad to see they changed, no painkiller anymore is a good thing, PCF need a revolution about game design, like Epic did to Gears...

You don't have to treasure find at all, you can just run through gibbing enemies if you wished.

Couldn't agree more, but PCF didn't make those.

but that's not how i play games... should see me playing BioShock2.... I was soooo articulated and so stingy that at end game.... i still have like 1500 atoms! and I ALWAYS ROB THE LEVEL CLEAN! all safes (that i can find) all hidden "stuff" that i look over and over for, and NEVER BUY PLASMIDS WHEN IT'S NOT A "NEED", plus, KILL ALL BIG DADDIES and still have room for taking down the BIG SISTERS! I also use harpoon A LOT because it's an ammo savor! reusable ammo! I also hack ALL (i can see) the vendors, turrets, cams and bots!!! I was CHEAP TO THE MAX! save up, loot all, discount all, rewards hog (also uses "proud parent" when ever doing harvest)... you get the idea... I HATE TO MISS "stuff"... that's probably why i hated wofenstine... i had to play same level OVER AND OVER AND OVER... well... you get the idea... strangely... i didn't finish that game either... and for fallout3... the father never died! and i was level 30! long ago... and still playing side quests and dunged loots, and "raider raiding".... yeh... like i said... i don't want to miss "stuff"... but i miss the most important thing... main plot...

I think I played the second pain killer. I like it at first but got bored pretty fast. I seem to recall all my weapons disappearing at the end of each map and having to recollect them on the next. That really, really, annoyed me.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the multiplayer. Painkiller had an awsome multiplayer for duels and deathmatch. A great mix of Quake style (bunny hop) gameplay and Unreal (duel function guns, wall dodging). It was very fun, but finding players was hard because the game wasn't as popular at the time like ut2004. Ut2004 did team based multiplayer allot better I think.
If you thought the game was boring you obviously played it at too easy of a difficulty level and were not trying to get a par-time :p.
At this point I'd be happy with a game half the quality as painkiller, after UT3 I really don't want to get to excited about a game before its really out. I don't want another games that is released in beta again.

Please understand that was NOT by PCF.

There are aspects of bullet storms weapons that are taken from painkiller... it is more than obvious :)
Not that its a bad thing?

After hitting the Google and looking at release dates, etc, it seems it was the first game I played.

I was waiting for a UK release for Painkiller on xbox but they never brought it out. So I did not get to play it... and that was a shame. I did play serious sam 1 and 2 and Serious sam second encounter all of which i loved....

I think its an awesome thing. The latest campaign footage shows a massive enemy that reminds me of a painkiller boss. Looks like it is going to be a great game.

I preferred the pc version so that I could disable the hud via console commands, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was better than serious sam (probably because of the physics).

I don't think Gears 3 is coming to PC. I think Epic confirmed that, but I don't have any links.

No comfirm, time for Epic themselves bring sth to PC, after 3 years we just wait for a bulletstorm from PCF? no, unreal engine 3 need more official games, and editor update, other big engine company all bring titles to PC, like Rage, crysis 2 ,portal 2, but Epic's Gears 3 can beat them all ;)

I'm a long-standing PK fan. That's why I trust PCF to make something exceptional with Bulletstorm. I'm surprised that there aren't more names I recognise, here
A tad OT. A group split away from PCF and made a game called NecroVisioN. You can see an early version of "Kill with Skill" implemented in that. If you like old-skool FPSs, I recommend it.

really looking forward to bulletstorm, it's been a while since there was a really crazy over the top super arcade shooter, and I want it :D
