This is the Create a Gears of War Character Contest

Sculpting and Custom Action Figures


Create an ORIGINAL Gears character, either Cog, Stranded, Locust or Lambent



You are allowed to use clay, super sculpey, aves epoxy, other scuplting materials, action figures, model kits pieces...etc...

Entries will judged on creativity and originality NOT skill

Members are allowed one entry in this category but you may enter one entry in each of the other categories...

Please post only sculpting and custom figure work in this thread

This is for fun so if any fighting or arguments occur it will have to be closed

If you have any questions please post them in the original contest discussion thread...

The prize for this category is the original artwork for this

here is my custom entry. some of you may know i recently had a defective figure sent to me and this is the result of that figure. I call him Graft.

PROFILE:

name: Graft
rank: General of the Grenadier Elite class
biography: Graft is the general of the grenadier elite and leads the grenadier class against the cog. He is battle hardend as you can see and is part android in places due to a frag grenade going off next to him during a battle with the cog. the grenade was thrown by colonel victor hoffman, whom he bears a deep grudge against because of this. most of the right side of his torso and his eye and cheek was lost when the frag went off but he was salvaged due to his rank and re-built. Graft must wear a permanent battery on the right side of his waist to power the sight of his right eye and jolt the nerves in his body so he can use his arm. His battery is mostly exposed and is his main weakness, however it is encased in thick metal so alot of gunfire is required to exploit its core.

Graft's weapon is the only one of its kind, it takes two tanks of acid which shoots whats thought to be around 30 - 35 feet and disintegrates anything it comes into contact with.

how i made it:

this is made from a locust drone thats been chainsawed and a flamer grenadier (these were the only figures at my disposal)

i took all the armor from the flame grenadier and cut the back pack away and also removed the head. i used the straps that were tied around the tanks of the back pack and glued them to each point on his chest making sure the ends were hidden by his shoulder pads and belt. to do the shoulder pads which was originally on his tri/bicepts, i stuck them to his neck/shoulder area (dragonball z gave me this idea lol) the smaller pads on his forearms, i stuck together and stuck to his waist as a kind of crotch guard. the head is straight from the chainsawed drone from the two pack but it didnt fit right and it was clearly visible so i glued it down and tied one of the remaining straps i had leftover from the backpack around his neck making sure it looked realistic and part of the design while also covering up that it didnt fit properly. each and every part of the android style armor is made up of the scorcher weapon on its own which i carefully cut apart which scissors and glued on to fit perfectly, you may be able to pinpoint which parts of the scortcher weapon is which if you look closely. i added the knife from the locust drone as an extra too.

to make the weapon i just took the hammerburst i got in the two pack and glued on the two tanks from the backpack of the flamer so it looked as though they were tubed to the front of the gun, added a few left over bits and pieces form the back pack and scortcher and it was finished.

here is my custom entry. some of you may know i recently had a defective figure sent to me and this is the result of that figure. i made him using the grenadier flamethrower figure and a few bits from a locust drone figure. ive made a short bio for him that ive just thrown together. and yes the name sucks but i couldn't think of anything so its just "custom" backwards.
