(This post is under GOW2 and GOW3 thread. I wasn't sure to what area I should post this thread in. I understand if one of them may be deleted. I just thought I'd post in both with the thought that one of them would be the right place)
I've had my share of many games in Gears of War and GOW2 and I've enjoyed many of them! I was amazed with some things that GOW2 implemented, but I was also disappointed with some things that I was expecting. Here's a list of things that I'm suggesting that either be in GOW3 or fixed in GOW2. Each one will go to it's respective game, meaning whichever suggestion is possible with whichever game.
1. I thoroughly enjoyed the different types of executions! That was a good thing! I liked the torque bow and sniper executions and I REALLY liked the fact that you can chainsaw someone who is below/above you by a step up/down. THAT was a great fix! Now I suggest that GOW3 have more executions that the user can pick out to have! The executions can be customized in the player options menu, much like the customize your character option. This means that everyone will have a set type of executions that they desire for each weapon! and PERHAPS the Locust and Cog can have some of their own UNIQUE executions! I'm not sure how it would work, but maybe the D-pad or the combination of the left bumper and some other button to activate the different executions. Again, just throwing ideas out there!
2. More Chainsaw variants! Sure you can chainsaw in the front or the back, but what about sawing off the legs or the head?? Maybe these different chainsaws can be put into the different execution moves that I mentioned in number one.
3. Fixing the chainsaw stutter. What I mean by this is that in Gears of War, when you took damage and attempted to use the chainsaw, your character's chainsaw simply wouldn't work. it would almost sound like it ran out of gas and couldn't work. That was cool! But in GOW2, when you get shot and you try to chainsaw, your character flinches and takes a step backwards, which is quite annoying after awhile. I do enjoy the fact that you can still charge with a chainsaw while taking fire. That was a great improvement! Also possibly bring back (if I haven't noticed yet) the chainsawing across cover. Meaning, two guys are on opposite sides of a stone slab to which they can see each other right over the slab and one of them throws a chainsaw and it chainsaws across the slab. It's easier to see than to explain, but I hope you know what I mean!
4. More maps where environment changes game play! I LOVED how Avalanche and Flood had map changes that affected the gameplay. That was an AWESOME feature! I makes you work around environment changes!
5. Maybe make it a button other than the A-button when you try and pick up a downed enemy and use him as cover. Sometimes I accidentally jump past them when I attempt to pick them up and I desperately need them as cover...so yeah, just a suggestion!
6. Bring back the pistol head pop off! Meaning, in Gears of War, if you shot an enemy who not downed, but rather walking, running, crouching, etc, if you shot them with the pistol you start off with and their damage becomes so severe, you then popped their head off if you kept on firing at their head. in GOW2, it doesn't do that! I got ALL my pistol kills and achievement during execution by popping their heads off. I was disappointed that you couldn't do that anymore. :(
7. Smoother chainsaw kills! Please, none of that stuff where the person being chainsawed stands stil for a brief moment waiting to be chainsawed in the back. It kind of looks lame...Perhaps kicking the enemoy in the back and then driving the chainsaw in for a smoother animation, just like one of the GOW2 trailers did! That was sweet!
8. Grenade explosions, great! I loved how the radius of the explosion has been increased! For the proximity grenades...not so great. Perhaps making the time from proximity acitivated to actual explosion increased a bit by some milli-seconds to allow more time for a reaction. It was never fun to get killed by those things all the time. It kind of slows down the gameplay because I always have to look out for them now b/c if I run into it, I'm dead b/c I have no time to react...again, just a suggestion!
9. in Gears of War, if you attempted a frag tag, and then missed, you could attempt another one in no time. In GOW2, you have to wait like an extra second or 2 to actually attempt another "swing" or tag at the person. It's no fun if you miss the first time, b/c then you just might be dead...also maybe fix the ability to tag right after you're done sprinting. I know that was taken away to avoid people running up and "2-piecing" someone, but maybe make the exception for a frag tag. Idk, it's what made frag-tagging fun!
10. Maybe shorten the time a person is stunned from a smoke grenade. I understand that the stunning thing is already taken away for the most part, but just offering a suggestion.
That's pretty much it for the suggestions! I'm sure the whole community has suggestions as well. I just thought I would at least share mine. I hope Epic Games looks into some of these ideas! I hope others agree with what I have to say, but that's what this is for. It's all for discussions! Tell me what you guys think. :)
