a way too simple. You should take a look atthe udk tutorial made by 3dbuzz. I'll help you a lot I think.

The floor texture is cool but nothing really to be exicted about.

I wouldn't really call it a level, however, for a beginner it's still good. It shows you know how to use BSP, lighting, placing static meshes etc. But as Sueds said, it would be in your best interest to follow the UDK tutorials, found in this post http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=710137

Lighting is wrong (imho), and you should probably have aligned the ceiling texture (or used another texture).

About lighting, there is 3 lights on the wall, but you dont see them, as your light is more or less the same all over the level.

So let me ask you, where does the huge amount of light come from ?

The 3 lights on the wall is smaller, so they would probably create a minor area of light, visible to the player, right now, its just max light in the intire level.

Work on setting the lighting mood, and settings inside post process.

Arent these just UT assets slapped into a box ?, sorry, but it does take a bit more to get me exited, but keep working on it :)

I'll go along with everyone else. It's far from a professional quality level, but it looks nice for a beginner. Don't take what everyone's saying too personally. They're trying to help you.

Really ? In these tutorials, especially the simple level one teach you how to set up a room with custm object. Four object in a room doesn't get any close to the valuable tips jason busby give in his tutorial. Anyway you should focus on sharping up your skils instead of jumping off to create a thread.

You should try decreasing the light's brightness. Having shadows would make it look so much cooler.

Okay here is my second attempt at the lighting. I have not yet reached the UDK tutorials on lighting so I just started screwing around with it. Here is what I got. http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9795/udklevelscrnshot3.png

Looks a little better. Try making the radius on those lights a bit smaller, then make them a bit brighter. Then duplicate all the lights and pull them away from the light sources by a foot or two, increase the radius on those by a bit then decrease the brightness on those.

Looks a bit better. Might want to make the light radius a bit smaller on the light sources. Also just a pointer, don't use pure white light, it will make things look unrealistic as light in real life is never found as that pure white look.

Definiatly better, gives you more of a feeling being in a room with no external lighting (windows/sun ect).

Unsure if your using post process, if you can afford it, the Eat3D UDK tutorial dvd have some nice post process tips for high, mid and low range settings, and other post process settings, if not, try researching the topic, it really just gives a level the last bit of naturialism in lighting and mood.
