I've been working on this model for a while, and I decided that it's finally time to ask for crits. It's still a very early WIP, but I'd like to know how I could make it better.

He's a lightly armored Pikeman for a game concept that I've been cooking up. This is the base of the high poly version. After I finish him in 3ds Max I'll export it to Zbrush and add in the fine details.

I started on the bottom and I've been working my way up. His Cuirass and arms are in very early stages. Additionally, he's completely symmetrical right now, but I'll fix that before the export to Zbrush.

The area from his elbows up will have a chain mail texture and normal map, but it'd be too much work to add it to the model. I'm also planning on giving him some leather armor on his forearms, but his hands will be bare.

I just wanted to get everyone's take on proportions and such. Maybe give some suggestions on what you think should be done to make this or that look better.

looking nice so far. But one piece of advice I get from an excellent sculptor you should keep the lowest level of division or polycount before you even do any detail. So the overall gesture isn't right. Don't correct the anatomy at that stage it's more beneficial to check it before that way you don't have to tweak too much polygons.

anyway for the advice I'd say the thorax is a bit blocky. Try to follow the shape of the muscle or like the pectoral region.

The version you see has the Turbosmooth modifier on it with 3 subdivisions, so it's not as high poly as it looks. Not yet, anyways. And you kind of lost me at the thorax part.
I do plan on posting more, it's just that progress is extremely slow with work and school taking up most of my time.
Thanks for your comments.

Sorry I'll try to be more specific. the shape of the abdomen (in your model) does not follow the body shape.

I understand progressing in modeling while doing our lives isn't easy.

That helps a lot, actually. Thanks.
