Hello all!

I had perhaps 150 mods installed during August. I exhausted myself, so I never got to WAR maps and some nice mods, so last week I decided to wipe the install and start clean (so I could get rid of what I don't use, etc., etc.).

I've literally been installing mods all week. In the beginning of the week I had an unfortunate problem with Firefox Download Manager terminating downloads early without alerting me, which led to a great deal of frustration (I fixed this by using Chrome and a download manager, I check all my downloaded files sizes against the posted sizes now). But other strange things started happening:

- "Bad mods" (incompletely downloaded) cause the game to delete ALL mods (I DEFINITELY don't remember this, is this normal? I've ran into it at least a dozen times now).
- Maps that had worked before I wiped everything now constantly freeze. Some maps (that worked before) will freeze before they finish loading.
-Loading certain maps, or enabling mods sometimes, will cause the game to crash. Upon relaunch, an XMB message will come up telling me that the game data is corrupt and I have to delete everything.

I know you're thinking that I'm just having problems downloading valid files or what not, but I feel really confident about these mods, and I'm running into problems with constant freezes and what not when I install a dozen or so "test" mods. Is there anyway to tell if my game disc is maybe messed up? Does anyone with PS3 experience have any ideas?

Thanks in advance! :D

Hi - been a while since I've seen this myself; is the error message you're seeing something along the lines of: "The game has either lost power or crashed, potentially due to custom content. Would you like to disable custom content?"

If so, you can choose not to, which should leave custom content enabled. If you choose to, all mods will be greyed out and have to be re-enabled in the mod screen; can't remember how it's done, I think you had to press Start or Select? That was before Patch 2.0 though, haven't seen it since ...

Thinking about it - is your PS3 networked and patch 2.0 installed? If not, I wonder if that's part of the problem; a lot of mappers have been recooking their content for patch 2.0 which contained a lot of fixes

Other than that, the only other thing I could suggest would be to try downloading a couple of maps from ut3mod.com within the game's mod browser? That way you could take the whole download-to-pc-then-transfer-via-USB-stick part out of the equation ...

Good luck :)

you have way too many mods installed. It looks like your entire PS3 has run out of active memory. The mods are not going anywhere anyways. They always be online here or there. You should max have 2 large mappacks (and a couple others) or max 10-20 mods in total not 150 mods total.

This happened to me, too. I only had 2 mods. I tried running with just one, then the other. Both made UT3 crash.

Weird - at one point (before patch 2.0) I had over 400 mods installed on my PS3, and they worked fine ...

Really not sure what causes the crash. The only mods I had installed were the ones I could download from the Community link in the main menu. I don't have a USB drive or anything to copy mods and maps downloaded off the web. Consider yourself lucky, I guess!
