Hello my fellow game developers. I am new to the forums. Now let me give you a run down of what's up. Dark Shroud Games is a new game studio. The website is being developed as we type(lol). I already have a great idea for a first game project. I have already got a very rough draft of the opening cinematic for the game. I plan on possibly selling our first game. Okay enough small talk, let's get down to business. I have been working in the field of 3D modeling for about 8 to 9 months now. Our game studio will be using the Unreal Development kit. I'm still trying to determine whether to make a mod of UT3 or start from scratch. The title of our first game is called "Wreckage". It will be a fps/tps where you basically get to shoot dinosaurs. It will have a very heavy storyline that I would like to deliver to the public. Here are the main goals for this title: give dinosaur shooting games a great name, provide the public what they want in a game, and most importantly make sure the gameplay is fantastic. Here are some reasons why you should join my game studio. 1. You get to experience working alongside a group of kind, mature, and awesome people. 2. You will be helping me to make a fantastic game that I hope will be as big as gears of war(I know this is aiming high, but o well). Here are the positions I need filled in the game studio.
A couple of programmers/coders that know how to script in the unreal development kit.
A decent amount of very experienced modelers.
An adviser to help me make important business decisions, since I am new to this whole leading a game studio thing.
A few great texture artists. (must be very experienced in photoshop or gimp)You also need to know how to make a diffuse map, and a spec map.
Some people who can make story boards really well.
Very experienced voice actors.
Some assistant writers that can help me develop a more interesting story that our audience will enjoy more.
Very good sculptors who use zbrush to make great normals maps and what not.
Last but not least I need a bunch of great music composers/music artists.
These will not be paid positions if we do not sell this game (sorry :(). If you want anymore info on our project, or are interested in joining just pm me here on the forums. Thank you for your time and I hopefully will see you in the game studio :).
Sincerely,
Dudeman95

Okay, I'm just gonna say it :
1- Don't have a name like dudeman95- I presume thats 1995. Unproffesional.
2- You don't have a game studio
3- You have no idea how much people are like you out there. You've made a cool logo. That makes you a game studio?
I can't be bothered to explain just how much an IP game takes to make let alone a mod.

Okay first I wasn't saying I had a logo so that makes a game studio. I meant someone who could teach me and help me in making the ground for what could be a cool game studio. Second I didn't ask for your opinion on my username. I do have an idea of how many people like me are out there. What I was simply asking for is a mentor type thing.
P.S. Try not to go off the subject with my username. That is very unprofessional.

Kind of following off what the last person said, you don't provide any details on:
What your plans are for the studio
What, if any, experience you have in the industry
Why they should help you if this is without compensation
You need to sell yourself as best as you can before people are going to want to jump at the positions, especially if this is without compensation.

Okay my plans for the studio are making great games to provide to the public. I might dare say stretch the limits of the gamers' imaginations with the games we will be making. I have no experience in the game industry, but I have about a years experience in the field of 3D modeling. I am also good with motivating other people to achieve their goals in a game project. I have good writing skills as well. The reason why people should join this game studio is to provide for the public high quality games that give gamers what they want and need in a game.:D If you want me to say more just post on here to do so.

You are just proving my point, you know.
I've been in 5 indie game teams. All but one are still going strong.
In all honesty I've been there. I have joined one team who were a bunch of kids that wanted to make an MMO. It was pathetic. Now, I'm not saying you are a kid but you sound, like alot of other people, far fetched.
Your goal is to make high qaulity games - You can say that but you have to realise just how hard it is.
Hey, if you aqquire a team of, lets say 13, and you start to make game content and levels, give me a call. Prove me wrong.
I may sound pessimistic but I've seen this far to much it isn't even funny.

Okay I see your point. Thanks for the heads up and I've seen posts like this as well. I am a realist also and I know if my team has the passion and determination for this game studio as much as I do, we will make something great.:)
P.S. I plan on proving you wrong.:D

Not yet. I got some advice from some other guys saying I should start out small before I start on a project as big as this. I still need to learn the udk engine and maybe some c++.

good advice on scaling it back, try and make a simple puzzle game or recreate a board game to begin with and go from their. good luck with the game.
