The Game Idea?
It would be a very simple (to start with) competitive multiplayer game based around both original and revitalized gameplay systems. I break away from the Quakes and Unreals that have changed very little in the last 10+ years, Allowing new gameplay mechanics and ideas. Opening up the "hardcore FPS" for the new talent that are being pushed aside by seasoned vets in games of the same style.

Why Will This Be A Good Project?
Mainly down to the fact that we would not be aiming for unreachable goals and EPIC stories. Nice and simple get a working prototype within a month or two then work for the rest of the time simply making the game better both system wise and presentation.

Whats In This For Me?
Simply not to much really. I would not plan on ever taking the game a commercial route for a few reasons.

1. UT has basically Died online and Quake is now free so we would struggle going up against the big dogs at a higher price then them.

2. This is more about having fun and making something we would like to pay then going the serious route of money making. "more money more problems"

3. The best way to get your game played is allow everyone and anyone to play it free of charge!

Whats The Plan?
The plan is a rapid development speed. Simply cutting out all the unneeded simply to get it playable as soon as possible. Like we all know alot of "mod" developers want everything done in order as if you was playing the game. I have seen teams try and get weapon models before even having a prototype projectile. I would like to personally get some projectiles scripted and a few simple BSP untextured maps and play with it and see how it feels before committing to time consuming asset creation.

What Do I Know?
Fair question I suppose. Truth is I know a fair bit about the unreal engine but im not really skilled in any area. I can make simple scripts and explain in mathematical terms what I think would be nice to try. I can create 3d models in maya that are pretty decent and textures also. Im a hard worker and can help and take control in many areas when its needed. I am after this being a group effort... BUT PLEASE dont assume im some young dumb kid that thinks he could make a game. cause if I could of done I would have done by now.

Im 23 years old btw.

Interested?

Look there: Beyond unreal " Help me design my competitive multiplayer shooter" (http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=190049)

Those guys there are veterans of ut and unreal modding, join them. Snake is most rabid community coder out there, he will do stuff. If all you really want to make is arena shooter there is no point of starting another project if you can join one.

Hey nice find man.

Problem is the project he would like to make seems actually alot more complex then I would like to see. I myself am not a pro gamer so cannot talk with authority on the subject. Though I have had feedback from some gamers at the top of quake live and where up there with the best on UT3.

Snakes idea seems solid, interesting and doable but with systems like PERKs and special ammos your over complicating the gameplay. with armor blocking damage to a certain area 100% your expecting to have rock solid hit reg all the time.

I wish him alot of luck and I hope he does well. Though, personally thats not the game im after creating. I am very open minded and willing to take on many ideas from other people. I just dont want to be making extra work for a team without even having a working prototype.
