View Full Version : fractured mesh question

Hello to everyone,

I have been playing around with physics and fractured meshes for a while now.

The thing i cant figure out is that i have a wall mesh that i made into fractured mesh, then i applied physics texture to it with mass. But when i shoot the wall only one piece falls off and the rest of the wall just falls down. Sometimes the whole wall falls trough the ground to, but not allways.

1. I need to be able to shoot the wall into pieces without it falling directly *solved* Just edited the texture mass to more mass. :) is this the right way?
2. stop it from falling trough the ground randomly...
3. One i shoot the wall and one piece falls off, after that i just keep shooting through the wall?

Can anyone please enlight me?

I had a similar problem, i used to shoot one chuck out of my wall and it would just tumble down and i couldnt shoot it anymore. I solved by adding some support chunks in, maybe you could try this too.

If you dont know how to add support chunks, check Hourences tutorials on fractured meshes.

Thank you for answering, that solved the problem. I switched also to the physxdestructibleactor, now i am having troubles with textures, they are not showing on the mesh. Did follow the reference for the actor on the UDN page, putting the flag for Used with skeletal mesh but that seems not to do the trick, my mesh is still all black, any suggestions?

I am really having hard time with physx destructible now, i have been trying to solve my problem with textures not showing on the destructible actor but now all of a sudden i cant even create physx destructible, when i right click a fractured mesh and choose create new physx destructible nothing happens, absolutely nothing happens. Before a windows came up with setting for making the object, now nothing at all, like i never clicked the option.

Anyone else encountered this?

*solved* for some reason not known to me after i tried resetting every possible change i made without success i just reinstalled the whole udk and it started working after that again.
