I imported a tree that I created. The tree is made of a trunk and several planes that make up leaves and small branches. The planes have a texture on them with alpha channel. When I select the tree in static mesh editor I only have two LOD levels for applying materials, one for trunk texture and one for leaves. How can I add another LOD slot for trunk normal map? Please Help! DL out.

Ok I figured it out or at least came up with a work around. If you have a method or an easy solution let me know because I would still love to know if there is an easier way. Thanks!

generally, it would be nice if you'd post workarounds for others to learn from, rather than just saying you found one.

I'm confused at your question. You should have one material for the trunk and one for the leaves. The material for the trunk should have the diffuse, specular, normal map, etc. in it. That's how materials work. maybe I am misunderstanding you or maybe you need to take a moment and do some research on materials and static meshes.

In a material you display your diffuse texture, over which you slap your normal texture. This material is then used on the mesh. :)

I didnt quite understand the procedure for materials but what I did was re-import the tree leaves seperate from the trunk and apply all materials that way. I realize now I didnt have to do this but hey no big deal. Sorry for not explaining exactly what I did. DL out.
