Some good titles?
Is someone writing some books about this kit?

I'm working on a series of tutorials that I'll be posting on this website, and I believe 3DBuzz already has a series in the works as well. Keep an eye out for both. :)

There are three excellent titles out there right now:
Mastering Unreal Content Vol. 1 (http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Unreal-Technology-Introduction-Design/dp/0672329913/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257823807&sr=8-1)
Mastering Unreal Content Vol. 2 (http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Unreal-Technology-II-Advanced/dp/0672329921/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257823807&sr=8-2)
Mastering Unreal Content Vol. 3 (http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Unreal-Technology-III-Introduction/dp/0672330822/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1257823807&sr=8-3) (out next month.)

These books are technically based around UT3 (they include a copy of the game!), but they'll get you up and running on UDK just fine. There are some differences, and some of the new features aren't covered, but you should have no trouble figuring it out.

The 3D Buzz guys did a great job with these.

I didn't know the existence of those books. Thank you. :)

I don't know, but I presume a delay is better than a bad book.

I bought Volume 1 of the book and I thought that there's an error on page 92, step 5c. It says "Set both the CollisionType property to COLLIDE_BlockAll". I also got confused trying to use Matinee Editor to set up the sliding door. I'm using the UT3 Editor instead of the UDK Editor.

Please, show me how to import a TGA or BMP without it locking up.

That is what I thought about the online tutorials for U3, until I tried to import custom media.
I can retexture things already in the content browser with items from the content browser, but any attempt to import custom media fails with a freeze.

I'll just have to keep failing until the official UDK book comes out.

search here if problems:

Then either you have bug in UDK or doing something slightly wrong, or it may be for eg. Vista 64 that has troubles with it.

Safest way to import things into unreal:
Create new map, name it for eg: DM-Test and then save it, editor initializes some variables when you do it, without that sometimes it does weird things. After that create for eg. new material, for DT-Test package, as node place some color vector and connect it to whatever node, this is just placeholder. When you have that non empty module importing real stuff should be more stable. Also importing huge textures takes time, so start with something tiny like 256x256 to confirm it works at all.

Thanks for the help, I'll try it again.
Unless my download was corrupted or something, then I don't know because I have reinstalled and everything.
I'll keep failing, I mean trying, until someone is kind enough to walk me through this with a video.
I'm sure I am missing something.
