terrain problem

hi guys im new to UDk and recently ive just been playing around. i saw a tutorial on how to make terrain. i know how to spawn it and change its size, but when i try to add a layer it wont let me. I keep trying to put things in the little box but nothing happens. so my question for you guys is if you know how to fix it? am i doing something wrong? and if i am doing something wrong then what?

still did not work unfortunately. udk wont let me enter anything in the little material box. theres the option to enter the selected material, or open the browser and search for one, i clicked them both and nothing happened
