...build a survival horror game.
By survival horror I mean old-school Silent Hill 2 style survival horror with less emphasis on out-and-out action and geared more toward atmosphere, pacing and story with combat, of course.
Not at all like most of today's Saw-inspired PG-13 "Nu Metal" horror.
More like Lars von Trier or Gaspar Noe; mysterious, caustic and brutal.
I'm a professional designer/developer and work by day at a serious games company doing AS3 and C++ work in Flash, Papervision & Torque3D.
I have a background in development, graphic design & audio engineering/sound design and have held professional positions doing each.
I'd like to put together a small team to try and make a demo or perhaps an episode of this title to try and get it considered for publishing, in one context or another, or just for a good portfolio addition.
I'm using UDK, nFringe, Visual Studio 2008 (Express), TortoiseSVN and Trac and have all the projects available on an online Subversion repository at ProjectLocker.
I actually have 4 more seats for my current account, so the team would have a manageable repository for the project and bug tracking tools available from the outset.
I will be working on scripting, writing, music & sound design, project management & other odds and ends.
I'm currently looking for:
1: Two other developers for scripting game-play, scenarios, cut scenes, etc.
2: A modeler who can do characters, props and help create maps.
3: An artist for textures, 2d assets and any other necessary design chores.
These people would all have a say in most of the game's creative aspects.
This would also put those involved in charge of bug testing, reporting and fixing as well.
I'm somewhat of an experienced developer and would like to work with other people with experience and maturity.
No "cowboy coding" projects for me.
If anyone is at all interested email me and we can talk about what the project is about and if you're interested in the idea.
Thanks for reading.
