Well that was descriptive...
If your mesh has more than one material, do you use a multi/sub-object material?

IF you get errors about missing materials, means UDK cannot find them. Double click on your naked imported mesh, it will open small editor, apply materials there. To do it you need first import textures, then create material out of it.
