Hey guys, I am trying to install UDK3 on my 2 month old laptop but I am going through a very annoying problem.

I am well advanced Windows XP user but my new laptop came with Vista and I have not clue how to trouble shoot something like that except the usual XP way.

I installed UDK3 without too much trouble but when I try to run it, a Message window pops up and tells me:
"Incorrect privileges detected! You must run as administrator."

Problem is..... I am an administrator and going to the User control panel just confirmed it. Could i install UDK3 if I weren't an administrator?

I even did a Right click on the editor and selected "run as Administrator" before running it but I get the same error message.

I searched the forum using "administrator privileges Vista" and all sorts of variations in the Search box and didn't find anything relevant. I can't believe I would be the only one to have gone through that.

Thanks for your help

Until Epic manages to iron out all the installer bugs there's no reason to mess around with it, just extract it with 7-zip or winrar and have fun. When extracted you can install the prerequisites from;
..\UDK\Binaries\InstallData\dotnetfx35setup.exe
..\UDK\Binaries\Windows\UE3Redist.exe

Hi Denny, thanks for your video walkthrough by the way.

My problem is not with installing UD3 but running it, well running the Editor. This is where I get the error message.

Have you tried compatibility mode? It's a long shot but it could work.

actually.. you know what ;-) I think I disabled something with my firewall! Disabling the firewall worked ;-)

Ok let me have a look at how to import character animation in UDK3. apart from your videos, do you have any other good links you would recommend?

I don't have anything from the top of my head, what is it that you need to know?

I realised you created a lot of videos and posted them on vimeo. Well I will go through them first. I am more interested in how to name the joints in Maya then import the whole thing and have it play in some sort of environment.

Eugh, don't remind me of those videos. I sound like a retard in them, hence why I never speak in my videos anymore. :D
